Love could make someone feel insane, in a good way.
That was what Rain was feeling. He merely couldn't refrain from admiring his girl at a distance. She really must be the one, the lad thought. As his eyes fixated at Jane's adorable figure with amusement, his father, who was sitting on the couch with him, observed how smitten his son looked. Ever since the couple stepped inside their house, he noticed Rain's evident affection and care for the girl. And he couldn't be more proud of his son.
"You're sure head over heels, boy," Mr. Park said. He wasn't even surprised that it took Rain five seconds to look back at him, away from the view in front of them. "Look at you," he added, snickering afterwards.
"What?" Rain asked, utter confusion written on his face, his two eyebrows lifting. The fact that he was completely oblivious that he looked super whipped while having his eyes on Jane was hilarious. He was like a lovely puppy that was waiting for food to come which was to be given by its owner. In fact, it was true though; Jane was helping Mrs. Park in preparing the dishes for Christmas celebration. "Why? What's wrong?"
Mr. Park shook his head. "Nothing's wrong," he answered, then patted Rain's shoulder. The latter was genuinely confused, yet a pretty smile began to form from his lips. "It's just a little ridiculous to me to see you being so in love with someone, your eyes speak it all."
Rain's giggles burst upon hearing his dad's remark, fluttering through the air. He obviously got shy for being caught like that, getting exposed like that. He was never really that open to his family with his relationships and the emotions involved, but with Jane, it proved him that she was undoubtedly different from others. Thus, getting caught in that way was new to him. Nevertheless, a proud smile was confidently displayed on his face. He had nothing to deny or to be embarrassed of.
"I can't deny that," Rain shyly admitted, his heart thumped loudly against his chest. His dad nodded in response, chuckling at the same time. He quickly noticed how his dad was actually turning old, hair turning grey and seemingly becoming less, too. It kind of concerned him, thinking what if he missed many things to make his parents happy. Was he even successful enough to make them proud? Those little doubts in his mind very occasionally disturbed him, but he knew he shouldn't be brought down. Shifting closer to his dad, he asked, "Dad, how did you feel when you first met mom?"
"Your mom?" Mr. Park asked, his voice low and gentle. He then looked at his wife, whose back was facing the two of them. Jane and Mrs. Park were having a conversation, apparently a fun one because their laughs were in unison, brightening and enriching the mood of the old kitchen. Mr. Park, on the other hand, had a faint smile on his face. "She was a popular student at school, straight A's and a winning athlete."
"And you?" Rain asked.
"I was more or less noticeable. Average, I'd say." Rain chuckled at his father's admission. He knew that his dad was never the type of person to lie, so to hear this from him, was such an interesting way to start a topic. Mr. Park himself stated that he wasn't at the same level as his wife (at school), yet he still succeeded in winning her heart. "I constantly sent her love notes, like you know, those old yellow papers back in the day— and insert it in her locker." Rain was trying to suppress a laughter, finding it funny how his dad abruptly looked so soft telling the story.
