Friends

The sun was shining brightly when I stepped outside of the house. Today was the day! Mabibisita ko na ulit ang Rockwell!

I woke up extra early today because I was just too excited. Even though last night wasn't much of a good night, I was thankful and hopeful that this morning would be great!

Nana and Dada were already waiting for me outside the gate. They were already inside Dada's jeep. I closed the gate and hurriedly sat on the back seat.

"Wala ka na bang naiwan, Rhelle?" Tanong ni Dada.

I quickly scanned my cross-body bag I brought with me. "Wala naman po, Dada." I smiled.

Half-day lang kami ngayon mamamalagi sa Rockwell. As planned, we will just visit Dada's poultry, since mamayang hapon may mga kakausapin silang dealers. But of course, a little trip to the sea won't be bad. Kahit ilang minuto lang kami roon, I would really feel contented.

Nang paandarin na ni Dada ang engine ng sasakyan, agad akong umayos ng upo at pinagpagan ang damit ko. I was wearing a white linen dress that I partnered with some gold accessories. For my shoes, I was wearing a beige-colored wedged Espadrilles.

Of course, I had my brown cross-body bag with me. Naroon ang Polaroid camera at DSLR ko, along with some snacks, my sunglasses, an extra battery,my wallet and my powerbank. I was so excited for this trip that even if I was inside the Wrangler jeep, I couldn't stop taking pictures of the scenario outside my window.

Marami kaming nadaanan na bago sa paningin ko. The whole trip, aside from taking pictures, I was aking Nana and Dada about the new structures and establishments we passed by.

Nakakatuwa naman na patuloy ang pag-asenso ng isla. Dahil sentro ang lungsod ng Vasco, hindi mo mahahalatang isla ito. Sa dinami dami ng mga buildings doon, maiisip mo na isa iyong lugar sa mainland.

I stopped taking pictures when we passed the ark that said, 'Maligayang Pagdating sa Lungsod ng Rockwell'. I smiled immediately when I felt that familiar feeling of home.

Nasa Rockwell na kami! Kaunting oras na lamang siguro, nandoon na kami sa poultry ni Dada. Medyo malayo-layo pa naman ang sentro ng Rockwell, kaya naman naisipan ko munang tingnan ang mga konuhang pictures sa DSLR. I deleted some and picked the pictures I will post later on Instagram.

I was busy fiddling on my camera, when a glimpse of the sea caught my eye. Oh my gosh! The rich blue color of the ocean mimicked that of the cloudless sky. I immediately took photos and I remebered na magpapaalam pala ako kina Nana.

"Nana, can we visit the sea later? Bago tayo umuwi?" I asked.

Nana looked at the Dada who was driving seriously. Bumaling siya sa akin, " Sure, Rhelle. Mamaya sabihan natin ang Dada mo, mukhang masyadong busy sa pagda-drive." Nana chuckled.

Nang marinig ito, agad umayos ng upo si Dada,"Oo, pwede Rhelle. Bago tayo umuwi ay dadaan tayo." He said and resumed driving. I smiled to both of them and relaxed on my seat.

Itinago ko na muna ang camera ko at tsaka tumingin sa suot ko. I realized it look simple since I didn't put much effort into styling it. Wala namang kukuha ng litrato ko dahil ang kasama ko lang naman ay sina Nana. Kaya kanina bago umalis ay kumuha ako ng mirror selfie at linagay sa story ko sa Instagram. I captioned it with the hashtag 'OOTD'.

Siguro naman ay hindi ito ang last naming balik sa Rockwell. I should ask Zaque and Monique to come home to the island. Para naman ay may kasama ako kapag gusto kong maglibot dito, since paminsan ay hindi puwede sina Nana. Paminsan kasi ay may mga kinakausap sila tungkol sa negosyo nila, but also considering their age, hindi na siguro sa kanila akma ang mga long roadtrips patungo sa kung saan saang sulok ng isla.
