"𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙚, 𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙪𝙥" caleb calls impatiently.
i stumble down the stairs, slinging my bag pack over my shoulder. i had probably forgotten half of my books but i didn't plan on going to most of my classes today anyways.
i scan the pile of shoes by the door, searching for my checked vans.
"don't forget your lunch" hayley chimes in, settling into the passenger seat smugly.
little fucker. she knows that's my seat.
god, we were barely into the school year and being in highschool was getting to her head.
i find them, picking them up carefully through the smashed glass scattered across the floor. shoot. i was meant to clean that up.
i slipped the shoes on, making a mental note of the glass for later before quickly stopping by the kitchen to pick up my lunch and meet my siblings in the car.
"do we have to wait on the goth?" i hear hayley groan, referring to my outfit as i close the door behind me.
despite my little sister's opinion, black skinny jeans ripped at the knee and a long sleeved scarlet shirt layered with a plain black shirt on top, wasn't fitting for a goth.
"goths don't wear red" i remind her only to be ignored, as expected.
truthfully, i couldn't give a flying fuck if my sister labels me as a goth, or if anyone labels me as a goth but i liked to stand my ground, regardless.
caleb just mumbles something back about how he thought we were finally getting along and hayley tells him that was true, up until she took my hair brush.
"maybe that's what made me late, the fact you 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 won't give it back" i hissed, our glares meeting.
my sister and i have never really gotten along, not since our mother passed. there was never really any reason behind it, other than that. i guess you could say it's our twisted way of showing love.
"that's besides the point, we were almost late today" caleb intervenes, before hayley has a chance to shoot anything back, "you do need to start getting up earlier though, gracie"
"you didn't tell me we were leaving twenty minutes early" i point out.
"okay that was a little my fault. i guess i just forgot about the new kid" caleb sighs, a celebratory smirk settling across my cheeks.
"new kid?" hayley says, suddenly sitting up from her slouch.
"not for you. he's a senior" caleb warns.
hayley was only freshmen but already popular. realistically, there wasn't much stopping her from getting a senior apart from caleb and i.
i suppose it wasn't hard to be that well liked when you're related to caleb, the school's golden boy.
hayley sighs in defeat, knowing there's no chance he will budge.
"whatever. he's probably not even hot" she grumbles as caleb pulls into the school parking lot.
