"Natsu, Gray, Happy we need to get moving.. Make camp somewhere.." Lucy said getting out of her slouchin position "We don't know when or if the person- or thing hunting us will attack so let's stay on our feet and keep our eyes open"
Lucy has decided side Erza had -- Well you know.. She should play roll of leader. The boys were still upset and sad about the losses but Lucy has had plenty of experience with loss and has learned to push it aside until she had time to grieve.
"Aye"
"Kay"
"Alright"
They all continued down the shoreline but then went into the rainforest searching for a compatible cave. On the search, Gray began coughing and hacking and sneezing. When he talked his voice sounded hoarse like he had a cold.
"I hope your not getting sick Ice princess." Natsu murmured
"Ah shut up-" Gray began coughing again this time a little blood into his arm but the others didn't notice. Gray quickly wiped it on his pants because his shirt was no where to be found, he didn't want them to worry about him.
"This cave looks suitable.." Lucy said pointing to the inside of the cave "Everyone okay with it?"
"Mhmm.." The boys said in unison.
Lucy set up her sleeping bag in-between the two boys. The heat was getting to her so she decided to leave the cover-part of it off. She couldn't sleep because of Gray's constant coughing and Natsu's loud snoring and Happy sleep-talking. She finally sat up on the stone wall that felt cool, it gave Lucy some comfort. Gray jolted awake coughing even more, Lucy looked at him worriedly his face was really pale and he had beads of sweat on his forehead.
"Gray ?" Lucy whispered
"Lucy, I feel like shit.." He murmured sitting up wiping the sweat off his forehead his body was trembling and his voice was more hoarse "Do you t-think you could get me some water I think there's a stream nearby"
Lucy nodded "I'll be right back"
Lucy got an empty water-bottle out of her bag then, She carefully stepped over Natsu and Happy then went into the open air. She strained her ears to hear any sign of water but heard nothing. Arguing with herself, she decided to go left first and see if their was a stream on the trail. The leaves crunched beneath her feet and little animals scurried away from her. The moon was full which worried Lucy a little bit.. Her mother always told her to stay inside during full moons because wolves and other scary-night creatures would lurk but, They were only stories.
Lucy stopped and strained her ears again, this time she heard the trickle of water. She was getting close. Running past trees and vines Lucy finally reached the stream. She put the opening of the water bottle into the stream letting it full the bottle. Once it was full she started walking back.
"Ouooooo"
Lucy's pov
"Ouoooo"
Oh no.. That isn't what I think it could be.. I saw three beat red eyes staring at me in the darkness. I backe away slowly as my mother told me to do when I was younger. The wolves stayed but their eyes pinned on me.
If I'm quiet they won't think I'm a threat..
*Snap*
Shit! I had to step on a twig! The wolves started coming closer to me slowly I heard the many paw-steps of them all. Suddenly, One pounced at me, I jumped out of the way u latching my keys from my belt. I didn't have time to summon a spirit before another one pounced. I dropped my keys and the water bottle. I fell too my knees and immediately started feeling the ground to look for my keys. A wolf jumped at me and sunk its teeth into my flesh. I shrieked but still searched for my keys. Finding them I chanted.
"Open! Gate of the Archer! Sagittarius!"
"How may I be of assistance!" Sagittarius said Bowing to me. I finally managed to pry the wolf off my arm and pointed to the three snarling and snapping their jaws at us.
"Get rid of them!"
He saluted the loaded three arrows. The wolfed pounced for us but Sagittarius was faster the arrows pierced each one in the heart making them die. I high-fived him with my good arm and he left back to the spirit world. I picked up the water bottle that I dropped during the battle and headed back to the cave but someone bumped into me.
"N-Natsu!" I exclaimed " What are you doing up I just went to get some water.."
He stared at me smirking then put both his hands on my shoulders " I heard you scream "
"Natsu.." I said softly. I am very lucky too have people like this in my life.
After a short hug-session we went back to the cave. I gasped Gray looked a lot worse he smiled weakly at the sight of the water in my hand. I quickly ran to his side my motherly instincts kicking in, I handed him the water and he gulped every bit of it down. Once he was done he stared at my arm that had blood streaming down but was crusted a bit.
"Your arm what happened?" He questioned
"Yeah you okay Luce?" Natsu asked
"I'm fine.. Gray you shouldn't be worrying about me you look terrible" I exclaimed touching my hand to his forehead "Gray you're burning up!"
Gray chuckled weakly putting his hands to his eyes rubbing them "Yeah, I know.. To be honest I feel worse than I look. It feels like my insides are collapsing."
"That isn't good.." Natsu murmuredI gave him a death glare and he coward behind the sleeping Happy. How did Gray randomly get sick? He never gets sick.. We haven't eaten anything weird or raw so why.. Wait..
"Do you guys think that the someone or something hunting us caused Gray to be sick?"
The two boys looked at me with confused expressions.
Gray coughed again trying to get the words out.
"I guess.. But how would they do it?" Gray asked
Wait.. The radiation fog! That's it radiation can make you really sick and destroy your organs and.. no.. Gray got some in his lungs. So did Natsu and Happy.. no.. that means there all gonna get sick and.. no-no... This can't be happening..
"Luce?" Natsu said coming up to me "Lucy what's wrong your crying! Is it the bite on your arm does it hurt?
I shook my head. I didn't realize I was crying. Should I tell them what I know? No.. I can't it'll just get them worried. I just need to prepare myself.
All my friends are going to die.
