Chapter Two

Thomas' POV

After quite an uneventful school day, Teresa and I had walked home together and talked about what the new kid could look like and what his name could be. We were too excited for tomorrow and desperately wanted to find out.

Now I am at home, lying on my bed and doing homework, being as bored as one could possibly be. I almost want something bad to happen so I can go and stop it. Sighing, I get up and decide to check my computer just in case there's anything bad going on. I tap a few buttons and the apartment building from this morning fills my screen. Nothing unusual.

I sigh again and put my face in my hands, my elbows leaning on the desk. I wish something bad would actually happen. I shake my head at the thought and immediately feel guilty because I wouldn't want someone to get hurt or any more damage to happen to buildings. But, as if my wish has been answered, I catch a glimpse of Venom on my screen. He's wondering around the apartment again. Why does he like it so much?

I quickly put on my superhero suit but don't rush off straight away as I decide to see exactly what he is up to first. I watch as he walks up the stairs at the side of the building looking somewhat suspicious. Once he is at a particular level, he goes up to the door and wraps his hand around the handle but realises it's locked. Before I see him use his powers, I am out of my house at the speed of light, running towards the apartment.

I arrive just as I see the fire appear in his hand and rush up the stairs. I almost knock Venom over when I'm there, causing the flame in his hand to evaporate. He looks over at me, where I am now standing in front of the door he was about to go through, and takes a step closer to me.

"Move." He growls.

I ignore him, "What are you doing here again?"

"It's none of your bloody business," He spits. "Now move."

"I'm not going anywhere until you tell me exactly what you're doing here." I tell him sternly.

Venom mumbles something incoherent under his breath and suddenly flies upwards to the roof of the building. I run up the stairs and get there just as I see him land next to a vent. Before he's about to melt it, I stick a hand out and bright blue lightning shoots out from it and attacks him, electrocuting him. I gasp as I hadn't meant to do that and hurry over to him where he is now lying on the ground completely still.

I kneel next to him and now realise that he isn't laying 'completely still' as I watch his body tremble and listen to the harsh breaths escaping him. I carefully put my left hand on his shoulder and he jumps slightly.

"Ar-are you okay?" I ask him in a worried voice, it almost cracking at the end of my sentence.

When I get no reply and more heavy breathing, I start to get more anxious. But that is nothing compared to the worry I feel once I see a trail of blood leaving the top of his mask where it has split.

"I... I'm gonna take your mask off and see how bad the wound is, okay?" I say and take a deep breath.

Should I really do this? Our identities are supposed to be kept secret. But he's hurt...

My mind races with thoughts and I struggle to push them out as I reach for his face. My gloved-fingers pull his mask off his chin and slowly peel it off the rest of his face. I take a moment to look at him as this is the first time I've actually seen his appearance.

His eyelids are shut tightly, his long lashes resting upon his cheeks. His eyebrows are furrowed together and his perfect-pink lips are parted slightly, making almost gasping sounds. His cheekbones are so sharp they could cut you if you dared touch them, with a cute little mole placed under his left eye. His dirty-blonde hair looks softer than the softest pillow or blanket I've ever seen and I have to stop myself from reaching out to touch it. I stare at him in wonder as he looks more like an Angel from heaven rather than a villain. I had expected that he would be ugly to match his evil personality but I feel absolutely dumbfounded as I look at this beauty in front of me.
