Thomas' POV

I walk down the corridor with quick steps, a bright smile plastered on my face, my lips curling up at the edges, and a plastic bag in my hand, swinging back and forth. It has been a few days since I was first partnered up with Newt, and we decided to put our differences behind us for a while so that we can focus on our Science homework. Yesterday's lesson was when we finally came up with what to do for it, and although it's pretty simple, it will at least be interesting and maybe even a little fun.

I see Newt getting books from his locker and immediately walk up to him to show him what's in my bag, my excited grin widening by the second. I give him a light tap on his shoulder and he spins around, one of his eyebrows raised in question and curiosity sparkling in his eyes.

"Something you want, Tommy?" He asks me, the nickname rolling off his tongue as if it has been made for only him to say. The nickname had started off in a mocking tone, him only calling me that to annoy me, but as a few days passed by, he had begun to say it naturally and I guess it kinda stuck.

"Look what I've got!" I squeal and show him the bag, not caring if I sound like an excited five year old who just got a new toy. "This is gonna be so fun!"

"Fun?" He questions, spitting the word out as if it's poison. "Yes, I'm sure Science homework will be tons of fun and not boring at all with lots of hard work involved." He says sarcastically, rolling his eyes, and then turning back around to close his locker.

"C'mon, Newt! It has painting involved. What's more fun than painting?"

"Oh, I don't know, let's see: sleeping, burning stuff, flying, smashing glass—" The blonde begins listing things, and not all nice things either, using his fingers to count along the way. "—watching movies - do you want me to continue?"

I sigh irritably, my good mood from only moments ago already ruined before Science has even started. "Why do you always have to ruin things?" I ask Newt, shaking my head sadly, a frown forming on my face, negativity now pumping throughout my body. I then just walk away and head to my first class, hoping that Teresa will lend me some paper as my locker is near to Newt's and I don't feel like going back and getting my books.

"What's up with you?" Teresa questions as soon as I take a seat next to her, obviously having noticed my gloomy expression. "Did something happen?"

"No. Just Newt." I tell her, not really in the mood to talk about the blonde boy right now.

"Want me to kick his ass?" She offers, an evil smirk playing on her lips.

I let out a small chuckle, appreciating having a friend like Teresa to cheer me up. "No, it's okay. But I'll let you know if you need to." I joke along with her, my happy mood slowly returning.

"Hey, where are your books?" Teresa then asks me but immediately realises that I didn't get them because of the villain. "Oh, right. Newt."

"Mhm. So you got any spare paper?"

The brunette rolls her bright blue eyes and turns to the back off her book, tearing out a couple pages for me to use. She hands them over to me with a kind smile but then whispers in my ear, "You now owe me two pieces of paper."

"Yeah, well, I'm sure Newt would be happy to give you them himself as he is the reason I haven't got my book in the first place." I reason with her, smiling slightly.

"Ooh, you are a sneaky one, Tom." She laughs, shaking her head slightly. "But also completely correct too."

But before I can reply to her with something funny, Brenda suddenly appears in front of our table with a nervous smile, looking directly at Teresa.
