Thomas' POV
I wake up to the most gorgeous smell wafting from the kitchen and I immediately know Mom's baking again. I jump out of bed and rush into the kitchen, cookie dough filling my nose with more deliciousness.
"Cookies!" I squeal, clapping my hands excitedly. Cookies are my absolute favourite food in the whole world.
"That's right, sweetie." Mom smiles at me. "Would you like to help me?"
"Yes please Mommy!"
She hands me a spoon and a bowl full of cookie dough before she drops in a few chocolate chips. She tells me to mix it together and when I find it a bit too tough, she covers my hand with her own and helps me.
My Mommy is the prettiest person alive. She has long brunette hair which is slightly wavy and big dark eyes. She has a few freckles sprinkled across her nose and the biggest smile you've ever seen. I take after her mostly, and when Mom's friends see me, they say I look exactly like her. Her friends always give me chocolate biscuits and ruffle my hair while telling me how cute I am.
"Okay, honey, now we need to roll the dough into balls and place them on the tray." Mom tells me, getting some more flour.
I do as she says and when some of the dough gets sticky again, I grab a handful of flour and dump it on top, most of it going all over me.
Mom giggles at me while wiping some off my cheeks, "You're just like a messy little puppy."
"Woof!" I say before sneezing, getting more flour everywhere.
"We'll have a lot to clean up." She mentions, but not angrily - we always have lots of fun cleaning up after cooking, and I normally play with the bubbles the soap makes (sometimes Mom even joins in too).
She puts her cupcake patterned oven gloves on and carefully slides the tray into the oven, and then turns towards me. But before she can say anything, I ask, "Are we going to clean up right away, Mommy?"
"No, darling, we'll do it afterwards. Let's go play in the garden." She says with a smile, offering me her hand which I take immediately.
She opens the back door for me and I run outside straight away, heading for the swing I got last Christmas. I hop on after a few attempts - the swing is quite high - and Mom gives me a light push on the back as I haven't learned how to swing by myself yet. She doesn't mind though, she loves pushing me on the swing. When I start swinging higher, I let out a squeal, to which Mom giggles at. Her giggles are unlike any other you'd hear. Hers are full of happiness and sunshine - and they infect everyone around her, making everyone smile.
"I think the cookies might be done now, sweetheart." She tells me, and we head back inside. The wonderful smell hits us right away and I smile brightly as Mom takes them out the oven.
The cookies are a golden brown and I can spot the melted chocolate chips inside, my mouth watering at the sight of them. "Can I have one now, Mommy?" I ask her with a sweet smile.
"We'll just let them cool down a bit first." She says, carefully placing the tray on the countertop.
After a few minutes of intensely staring at the cookies and willing them to cool down a little, Mom picks one up and takes a bite out of one, licking her lips afterwards.
"Does that mean I can have one now?" I ask, excitement bubbling inside of me. Mom nods her head at me with a smile before taking another bite of her cookie. I choose the biggest cookie on the tray and take a large bite, closing my eyes as the flavour is so heavenly. "This is the best cookie I've ever eaten!" I exclaim, taking an even larger bite than before.
