(A Tuesday that just felt like it was going on forever).I should probably introduce myself to you.
Hi.
For the duration of this book I will be known to you as Miss C. It will only be at the very end (whenever we reach that point) that I will reveal my true identity to you. So buckle up tight and enjoy the ride!I am an 18 year old first year LLB Law student from Stellenbosch, South Africa- one heck of a country, which I love so much. It is rich with different cultures and traditions, and is surely the most beautiful country in the world. Well, although my experience of the world is a bit limited (I've only travelled to neighbouring countries namely Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana, Mozambique and Namibia, and haven't been overseas), my family and I have seen and experienced literally every single part of South Africa- from Table Mountain to the Kruger National park. We discovered hidden gems within this country, with abundant wildlife and breathtaking views, which I will maybe reveal to you later. South Africa has 11 official languages, of which I can speak 3; Afrikaans, English and isiXhosa (yet I am still in the process of becoming fluent in isiXhosa).
I am of the Afrikaans "Boer" culture; you can google all about the "Voortrekkers" if you want find out more about how this culture originated- which is really worth the read. We are a robust group of people, who make up most of the farming population of South Africa, and who love to watch rugby at a "braai". Stereotypical, I know, but it is really true for my family. Although we are hardened by the tough circumstances in this country, we have remarkable values such as kindness and respect. We are immovable and loyal to our Christian faith, and make the best "melktert", "koeksisters" and "biltong". Okay, now that you know all about my culture, let me be a bit more specific about my life: time to introduce you to my family.
I love my family- cheesy, yes, but they play a huge role in my life. My father is my absolute role model, he is the embodiment of hard work and dedication, and he will literally do anything I ask him to. And, yes, I am his favourite. My mother is the softest and most kind-hearted person I know, who cares more about me than about herself- sometimes to my utmost frustration (she just can't leave me alone). Finally there is my brother. A total lunatic. He is 16, which means that his testosterone is starting to kick in, which makes him all the more annoying and hyper-active, and a huge player (with girls, I mean. There is no hope. I have tried and failed to lead him on the right path of not messing with girls' hearts). Yeah I know it sounds harsh, but despite it all, we have a great relationship. Don't tell him I said this, but underneath the whole Tumblr-boy facade, he is actually quite cool.
There is one more person who I want to introduce you to: my love, my boyfriend. He will feature in later chapters, as a single paragraph for his description simply won't do.
