chapter 11

ANNA

It is break time and Mabel and I are in the cafeteria eating our lunch.
Louretta and her minions were seated at the table next to us, I don't know why they decided to sit next to us today, I hope they don't try anything nasty cause am so not in the mood for their nonsense today.
They kept whispering and gushing among themselves I wonder what they were talking about. I couldn't help but ask Mabel what they were talking about cause she was sitting right opposite me with her back to them,so am sure she could hear what they were saying.

" They are talking about the new boy" she whispered leaning forward.

" Lucas? What are they saying about him" I asked nonchalantly

" I don't think it's Lucas they are talking about, I think there is another new boy in another class, probably art class cause Esther is the one giving them the details about the guy" Mabel replied

Esther is another of Louretta's minions, but they don't hang out together all the time,she was in art class while Louretta and the rest were in the science class.

"What exactly was she saying" I felt the urge to hear more of their discussion.

"That he's tall and handsome and he looked rich, but seems to be a bit arrogant, that was the only thing I heard don't ask me further questions" and she quickly dived into her plate of rice.

I know Mabel won't answer any of my questions now that she was doing what she loved most, eating. I started diving into mine, then my thought drifted to my dad. He's arriving tomorrow and I couldn't help but get excited and then my new phone, finally I will be able to contact my old friends from my former school, and Folake ow I miss that girl. She is very funny but can be very mischievous, I remember a time when we were in JSS 3, that time Monsur Yusuf was our class prefect, and Folake's enemy but now that I think of it, I think he had a crush on her  and he was just too shy to tell her, while Folake on the other hand, disliked him because he always came second position after me and she always came third.
Folake Sha I don't think that that was enough reason for her to dislike him
So there was this day the maths teacher asked Monsur to write the names of the noise makers, Folake who wasn't in class when the announcement was made came in some minutes after and started talking non-stop, I tried to tell her to keep quiet but she wouldn't listen. Monsur as the good boy that he was wrote Folake's name on the list, that day she received ten stroke's of cane cause Monsur added times 5 in front of her name.
The next day his maths assignment went missing, the teacher gave him fifteen stroke's of cane. Later on when Kate went to dispose an empty sachet of pure water inside the dust bin in front of the class, she saw a foolscap inside the bin and decided to pick it out, lo and behold it was Monsur's maths assignment. That was the moment the tears started to fall, that day he cried not because of the beating he received earlier but he had lost ten marks.

So a piece of advice for you, don't buy Folake's job if you know what I mean

"Snap out of it" Mabel said clicking her hands in front of my face

" Hey you startled me you know" and that was when I noticed her plate was empty.

" Well someone is saying hi behind you and hey be nice" she whispered the last part.

I turned and saw Lucas standing behind me with a smile on his face, he stretched out his hand.

" hi am Lucas"

I had contemplated on snubbing him but then I remembered Mabel's words so I decided to be nice. I took his outstretched hand

" am Anna"

" Nice meeting you Anna and I must say you are very beautiful" he replied still smiling

" I know" I kept a straight face and removed my hand from his,

He scratched the back of his head" am sorry if I offended you with what I said"

" No you didn't do anything that's how she behaves sometimes, don't mind her" Mabel chipped in while sending me death glares. I just rolled my eyes..

"Ok, and you all meet my friend Shamir, Shamir meet Mabel"  that was when I noticed there was someone else standing beside him.

Mabel got up and stretched her hand towards the Shamir guy, and gave him her dimpled cute smile

" hi nice meeting you"

He kept quiet.

Five seconds pass and Mabel's hand was still hanging

Lucas nudged him and glared at him . Then he finally decided to speak .

" I don't shake hands with strangers"

Arrogant, who does he think he is

Mabel mortified dropped her hands" ok ammm nice meeting you Shamir"

" Well I can't say the same"

WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
