Description: Everything has changed since THAT day. My husband despises me even more now than he did before. He hates me so much. He only wants my body... and wild, filthy sex. And that breaks my heart.
Review:
A Wife's Cry is about Vanessa and Allen, legally bonded and emotionally destroyed through an arranged marriage that serves to merge and save both of their families' company. This sounds like a cliché, push-and-pull kind of story, but, I believe, is the best and most mature one (so far) at that. You have to be mature enough to read this, not only due to the mature and violent scenes, but also so you can handle the imperfections of the characters. I don't think you're going to enjoy and appreciate this story unless you're open-minded enough to understand both sides of the story. (AWC is the most debatable story I've talked about so far with all the comments of affected readers.)
Alam kong parehong may mali ang dalawang kampo. Vanessa started it by cheating on Allen with Zian twice. Allen followed it by having sex with different women even with Vanessa present in their very house AND physically, verbally, and emotionally abusing Vanessa throughout their two years of marriage. All these just to get even with Vanessa's cheating. However, cheating is always wrong no matter what the reason is. Abuse is also wrong, be it a physical one, verbal, or emotional.
Despite all these, what matters is Vanessa's determination and strength to stay with her husband. What matters is Allen's willingness to do everything it takes to make up for everything he's done and prove his love for Vanessa the right way.
This story is very realistic, which is what I appreciate the most about AWC. But I like how the author stays realistic even after the years of separation. Na they're back in each other's arms.
I mean, let's be honest here. It keeps the readers (haters and bashers included) wanting for more, expecting for more, no matter how "annoying" it gets. Mas lalo nilang napapahalagahan ang isa't-isa the more they try to pull away from each other.
The personalities of both characters are initially annoying and immature, but it's real life. Kailangan may pagdaanan para mag-improve. Kailangan may pagdaanan para may ma-realize. Maraming nawala sa dalawa dahil sa pag-uugali nilang dalawa. Immature nga sila noong una, but I like the concept that both of them grow and develop into their better versions/selves because of all the obstacles they have to overcome throughout the story (kahit na sila pa mismo ang naglikha ng sarili nilang problema). They're far from perfection, pero nagustuhan ko iyong konsepto na natuto sila sa dati nilang pag-uugali at willing silang bumawi at ayusin ang kanilang mga sarili pagkatapos ng lahat na nawala sa kanila.
Favorite Quotes:
Is it love? If that's it... I can give it to you. I'm already in the state of forgiveness.
--
Zian: "You didn't love her... and I did! And now you're telling her you love her?! F*ck man, you don't destroy the person you love!"
--
Leila: "Leave him, Vanessa. Make him realize kung ano talaga ang halaga mo ... Maghiwalay muna kayo.
--
Vanessa: "Allen, h-hindi ako makahinga. Let go."
--
Allen: "Vannie, bakit ang tagal magkalaman nito?"
Vanessa: "M-magka...ano?"
Allen: "I want to have a baby, Van."--
Allen: "This smells good."
Vanessa: "Really? That's made by Gavin."
Allen: "Hindi pala mabango."--
Allen: "Bakit mo naisipang magpagupit?"
Vanessa: "I just want to get rid of everything that reminds me of you."--
Allen: "Ikaw lang naman 'tong nakikipag-away. Inaaway mo 'ko."
