Review:

The description pretty much sums up the plot of Ang Alalay Kong Astig, and I must say na astig nga si Maya/Alex, ang bodyguard na nagpanggap bilang Maya na gustong makipag-barkada kila Blake, pero ang totoo ay siya si Alex, isang pulis na binabantayan si Blake mula sa isang sindikatong nagngangalang Venomus.

Nagustuhan ko talaga ang character ni Alex dahil sa katapangan nito. Isa siya sa mga kakaibang female protagonists dito sa Wattpad dahil hindi siya iyong tipo ng babae na agad-agad na nahuhumaling sa mga lalaki. Kahit nga pasikreto ay hindi siya agad na nahumaling kay Blake. Sobra siyang dedicated sa kanyang trabahong pagpupulis at pangarap na ma-promote, kaya matagal bago sumagi sa isipan niya ang nararamdaman niya para kay Blake. Which is a good thing, because this just shows how real her feelings are.

Blake is an intoxicating, yet despicable man, who keeps hooking up with random girls every night kahit na may girlfriend na siya, kaya naiintindihan ko din kung bakit hindi agad na nahumaling si Alex sa kanya. Pero pagdating kay Alex, tumitiklop siya. "Alalay" niya si Alex, pero siya pa ang napapasunod ng babae, which adds to the humor of the story actually. Sobrang napatino ni Alex si Blake. Ang cute nga nilang dalawa kasi Alex restricts Blake from his constant partying with friends and hooking up with other girls, while Blake restricts Alex from her countless attempts to avoid studying for exams. Basically, napapabuti nila ang isa't-isa kahit hindi pa naman sila.

And the twist though! Bumunga ang drama ng story mula dito. Bago ang twist, humorous ang storya, pero nang papalapit na sa twist ay unti-unti na ito naging malungkot, lalo na nang dumating na ang twist. Nevertheless, it creates tension and challenges the couple, which I appreciate. There's a second book to this story, titled as Ang Syota Kong Astig, wherein Alex gets further torn between her obligation as a cop and her responsibility as Blake's girl, and an ongoing third story, Ang Misis Kong Astig.

Alex: Quits lang tayo. Ikaw din lang naman ang inalagaan ko sa tanang buhay ko.

Blake: I don't want you to feel that way! It's making me crazy kapag naiisip kong galit ka sa akin! I don't want you to hate me! I can't stand thinking that you're secretly holding bad feelings inside.

Alex: Sabi mo kasi mababawasan lang ang trabaho ko... Hindi mo naman sinabing wala na talaga akong gagawin. Pakiramdam ko tuloy wala na akong silbi.

Blake: Hindi ka mawawalan ng silbi Maya. As long as you're beside me, you have a purpose. Just stay beside me... that's enough.

Alex: Mabuti naman kung ganoon. Mukhang maganda nga ang epekto sayo ni Marianne.

Blake: It's not Marianne.

Alex: Sino? Ang lolo mo?

Blake: No.

Alex: B-bakit naman ako?

Blake: I can't handle your anger.

Blake: I hate you for who you are now because it's hurting me that you are the one who has to protect me when I should be the one protecting you. It's hurting me that you have to risk your life for me when I should be the one risking mine for you.
