Three months later

The base had been abandoned after that night, packed up, left without a trace of evidence that any of them were ever there. Yunho had reported everything to the police the next day, along with Yeosang he retold the whole story, and cleared his and Yeosang's name.

The rest of the team still had a list of crimes under their name, and while the whole process took over a month to decide their sentences and reconfirm whether they'd be put back into the asylum, or serve their sentence in a city jail, it was worth going through legally. Yunho didn't want to risk anyone's lives any longer.

Through that month, he began to learn more about the crimes and mental disorder list of his friends, and while a lot of it shocked him, a lot of it didn't as well. He knew he was amidst some terrible people, but when it came down to it, they all pulled through for his sake. And of course for Mingi's.

When San ran up to the top of the rooftop that night, Yunho was crushed, unable to even separate from Mingi. They carried both of them together down the stairs on a stretcher, not exchanging any words, they knew he was in pain. Overtime the pain refused to cease, and even now Yunho cannot look at his friends without thinking of him. Yet, something about feeling that pain makes him feel more alive, and if anything, that's what he promised to Mingi, that he'd stay alive.

He also promised that he'd take care of everyone, and he set out to do just that once he returned to the asylum. There was all new staff, but since Yunho became regarded as a state wide hero for his commitment to solving the case of the mysterious serial killer, he was granted his job position back almost instantly. Most of Hongjoong's murders went under the radar, but with his infamous written blood names and messages, and off and on murders of innocent civilians outside of Mingi's team, he made a name for himself on the down low. Yunho was able to explain and reassure the state that he was no longer alive to continue those crimes.

Yeosang had to go back through a training process since his entire job application was a rushed ruse in order for him to initiate the original plan. Yet, he was back as soon as he was able, and soon Wooyoung, Yunho, and Yeosang began their therapeutic investigation and care of the patients at the mental ward once more. San's position as a nurse had no credentials to back it up, and since his crimes consisted of minor offenses and mostly assists on some of Mingi's major crimes, he was let off with two years and cleared by a doctor of any his mental disorders, his sentence shortened to one year with an additional year of community service.

Yunho wanted to make the asylum an example of what mental institutions should be from there on out, and he made quick progress. He called food companies, and medication labels, requiring higher standards, along with a better cleaning staff. New clothes and beds were issued to every patient in every room. He had to work his way up in order to achieve those accomplishments, but it wasn't hard with the help of Wooyoung who had a preexisting great reputation to back him up.

Jongho was readmitted to the asylum since his multiple personality disorder was too severe for him to stay walking on the streets. His crimes were quite minimal, but the condition in itself prevented him from properly contributing to society. And of course Seonghwa. He will probably live only a few more years at the institution since Yunho and Yeosang came up with a game plan on his therapy and medication that might help him with urges and depression.

*************

Today is like any day after everything went down. It is raining just like the day he started at the asylum so many months ago. He gets coffee, his white lab coat damp from the intense rain since he forgot an umbrella this morning. He ponders his state of mind for a moment standing under a pergola top over the patio at the coffee shop, sipping slowly to retain its warmth for as long as possible.
