Jayden's P.O.V.

"That prank was so last year", Carter remarked as we walked to our first class which was Economics.

I didn't reply and instead focused on not slamming into someone in the corridor.

Carter didn't seem to notice my silence as he droned on. "But how did she manage to not get caught?" He wondered out aloud.

"Well, maybe she is a true prankster?" I tried suggesting as Carter just gave me a death glare.

He raised his head regally and said, "None better than us. I am gonna get personal with my prank."

We were almost in the front of the class when I spotted Scarlett and Riley laughing and talking in front of the opposite classroom. In the middle, Scarlett's eyes drifted around and the first person her gaze landed on was Carter.

Both of them smirked at each other coolly.

'When are they ever gonna end their rivalry?', I mumbled to myself. But then again, by the look Scarlett gave him, I had a slight idea that even she was planning on getting personal.

As we entered our classroom, we chose our spot in the last bench as usual. Carter and I had a love hate relationship with Economics, but it was necessary for our futures. After all, my dad was ready to chain me to his company and Carter was just winging it. 'I just want to be filthy rich', he had told me once.

A teacher stepped into our classroom and what seemed like a fish market turned into a well-disciplined audience at a play. There was pin drop silence.

The teacher, Mrs Rachel went out on and on about production, distribution and consumption of goods or services. But my mind drifted towards the brunette I met on the first day- Riley. She was very hot headed and she matched my level. And especially after the entire fighting-about-the-right-number fiasco, I was certain that we would be very good friends.

"Jay, why are you smiling to yourself? Have you lost it finally? You mean, our economics teacher is so pretty that she has you gleaming with happiness?" Carter nudged my arm bringing me to reality.

"What? What did you say? Nothing of that sort. I am just happy because I get to eat my favorite pasta today for lunch. YUM!" I said without even thinking twice.

'Thank the lord'

Carter knew something was up but he decided to ignore it, for which I was highly grateful.

'Wait, why was I even thinking about her? She is supposed to be my enemy!' I rolled my eyes and pushed her away from my thoughts. But she could also be a good friend. I mean, our minds ran on the same frequency.

As soon as the bell rang, the students made a beeline at the door to exit before Mrs Rachel could hold us back for any extra assignments. As we separated our paths down the hallway for the next class, I bumped into someone.

"Oh my god, where on earth are your eyes? Watch it!" I heard a girl shout at me. Wow, who the hell does she think she is talking to? Doesn't she know I am Jayden, Jayden Holt? Now she is going to get it from me.

As I was about to give her a peace of mind, I turned and my heart lurched. And I was certain that it was because I was annoyed.

Wow, Riley again! This girl never fails to surprise me.

"What the heck are you doing here in the arts block? You take art?" I asked, being very surprised, she did not seem like an arts person.

"Duhhh, obviously, art is my second love. First being, myself." She said rolling her eyes and flipping her hair. "Wait, why am I even wasting my time with you?" She turned her back on me and left only to walk into the same classroom where I was headed. Great.
