Third person's P.O.V.

Riley thought that Jayden was slowly losing it as she listened to him ramble about Carter and Scarlett as they sat shivering in the cold November morning on one of the benches kept in the sprawling school grounds.

"I am telling you, they will get together", Jayden said as he looked at Riley seriously, trying to drive his point across.

"But what proof do you have? The fact that he talks about Scarlett always? Riley asked and cocked her eyebrow up. "It's not something new. Even I talk about you."

Jayden's jaw nearly dropped when he heard that? Riley talked about him?

"You talk about me?" He asked softly.

Riley nodded. If only she had read into that question and observed his reactions more carefully, she would have understood that Jayden loved her. She would have understood that it wasn't just his need for a friendship that brought him close to her.

"But Jay", she said suddenly as her eyes widened in realization. "Maybe you are right."

Jayden wanted to facepalm. What was she even saying? First she said that she thought he was crazy, and now she thought he was right.

"So, what is your plan then? You want to bring them closer? How exactly?" Riley asked, raising her eyebrows.

Jayden pretended to ponder. "We don't exactly know right? This is just what always happens. Best friends always fall in love. Even F.R.I.E.N.D.S. shows it all. What more proof do you want?"

Riley scoffed. "It's not like I am in love with Carter."

Jayden ignored the pang of jealousy that passed through him. Why did Carter have to get Riley's attention? Didn't he already have Scarlett's?

"I have an idea", Riley piped up. "How about we lock them up in a small room and let their bodies do the talking?"

Jayden dramatically gagged at her implied words, but even then he nodded. "Perfect. We could lock them up in the storage closet near the classroom. The one with the automatic lock system. Carter won't be able to pick the lock."

Riley nodded enthusiastically, making Jayden smile when he saw how cutely her ponytail bobbed. "Genius. You are a fucking genius, RiRi."

And then, Jayden took it upon himself to make sure his and Riley's plan worked.

It took about two weeks to be exact for him to make note of the rounds of the cleaners at the storage closet and also to make up a good excuse for both Scarlett and Carter to appear there at the same time. He knew they were his friends and they would believe him every time. But then they also could make out his bullshit when he did such work.

Jayden met up with Riley the night before the plan was to be put into action.

There was no reason for him to, but he just wanted to see Riley's cheerful face.

"So what are we going to do?" Riley asked, tugging his shirt like a baby. Riley's bright eyes stood out in the dark lifeless night. It was like she brought life around Jayden. He felt more alive with her.

"Oh honey, just watch me. I am a pro at this." Jayden said confidently, earning an eye roll from Riley.

After class ended the next afternoon, Jayden had told the trio to meet at the storage closet to discuss a new prank. But of course, Riley and Jayden were out of this but Scarlett and Carter were going to get themselves pranked.

After class, Scarlett and Carter went to the closet in search of Riley and Jayden."Why would he want us to meet here?" Scarlett asked Carter, feeling suspicious.
