With the calming sounds of rushing water and chirping birds in my ears, I wake slowly.

Then very quickly.

I live in the middle of suburbia. Why do I hear nature?

Oh shiznickle.

I spent the night with Bryce. Without telling my parents. I'm dead.

Very dead.

I shoot upright, making a body stir next to me.

He groans softly.

I quickly stand up and start packing my things.

"What are you doing?" Asks a husky voice behind me.

I look over to Bryce, and my knees go weak.

His eyes are a little dull from sleep, and squinting against the light streaming from the morning sun above us.

His hair is dishevelled from the water the night before and from sleeping, deliciously messy.

"I have to go," is all I say to him.

I double check I have all my belongings before starting my long walk to the car.

I only travel up three steps before I hear his voice again, threaded with amusement.

"Even if you make it to my car before I do, you'll still have to wait for me to get there."

"Oh."

He laughs and I hear him getting up from our makeshift bed.

As we pack up camp, I think about last night.

I had so much fun with Bryce, I feel like we just fit perfectly, you know?

I haven't felt this way about a guy in years and I can't help but think it just feels so... right.

I blink once.

Whoa hold up. One night and I'm already having serious thoughts. Dangerous thoughts.

I shake my head to clear it. I need to slow down.

We finish gathering our bags and start the trek upwards.

By the time we are at the car, I am sweaty and hot.

We load everything into the trunk and start the long drive home.

My phone reads 9:23 AM.

My mom is going to kill me.

I look towards Bryce, only now realising I haven't said anything to him about last night.

"I had lots of fun. Last night. Thanks for taking me."

I let out a shaky laugh.

I hope he doesn't hate me.

I wasn't the best date, after all.

Was this a date?

"That's alright. I had fun too. I haven't shared this place with anyone. I feel so comfortable with you."

His pretty eyes leave the road, and he looks over at me.

There are butterflies in my stomach.

"To be totally honest," he continues, "I wasn't sure how this was going to go. I'm glad I decided to ask you to come."

With that said, the car ride is quiet, but I don't mind.

I am content with how the conversation ended.
