Another day at work and Walter felt like his head might explode. Two days had passed and no police at his door or workplace. He was scared out of his mind. Everytime someone looked at him at work, he thought they knew about that night.
His nerves were getting to him. Strangely enough, the only thing about that night that calmed his nerves was the memory of her.
The way her angry eyes glistened in the darkness. She was covered in blood but her beauty was still exposed. Never had he seen such ferocity in a woman. It kept him alert and mesmerized. No woman had him dumbstruck like that.
He dated before, but none of his partners captured his attention like she did.
Why is this going in the direction of attraction? I shouldn't be thinking of her. Damn it!
But I felt something and I'm sure she felt it too. There was a stop in time and a spark in our connection- as sick as that sounds. But,I love that feeling- being sick. As soon as she fled,I instantly felt like me again, dull and empty. My world was back to normal and I didn't like it.
He parks his car in the parking lot and makes his way through the chilly air. The apartment building was as dull as the weather. He walks in the warm building and heads to the elevator.
He enters his apartment and drops on his couch. He groans in pleasure as his body sinks into it. He closes his eyes to relax but senses something is out of place. He opens his eyes and notices a rectangular case with a red ribbon on top.
His eyebrows rise high as his eyes widen. What's this? He picks up the case and unties the red ribbon. He flips the case and finds a dagger. Its handle of a brass metal. Its blade is shiny and elegant.
He can't see it in the dim light and picks it up and raises it to the kitchen light. The reflection on its shiny blade stings his eyes. He sets it down on the table and wonders.
Why is this dagger here? How did it get here? Did someone break in? If they did, why?
He searches the case thoroughly; removing its interior hoping he'll find something else that can explain this odd package. Nothing. What the hell is this supposed to be? I hope its not a Saw or Escape Room shit. I hope not.Who would send this?
My friends don't have an interest for weapons, they wouldn't send me this. And if they did, they would've told me or sent it with a note. Fuck this! Who would send a fucking dagger in a gift box? Is someone...
He looks out the window to see if a dark figure is hiding in a dark patch of the parking lot-probably wearing a hat or a hoodie. Nothing. Just the cars. No one is out there. How did they get in?
He looks around the window but there isn't proof of a break in. The door is untouched. But how would he know. The lock was probably picked.Either way, someone broke in and put this here for fun. What a sick game to play. I have to report this to Security.
He puts the case and dagger back together and heads for the door. Before he opens the door, a loud knock on the door interrupts his reverie . He looks through the peep hole and sees four policemen. They are armed and waiting. A bigger man moves in front of the four and raps on the door.
"Police, open up."
He can barely breathe now. No! Please, no. They found the body. They're here to take me. Fuck!
"Open the door or we'll be forced to break it down." The bigger man's voice is firmer now. He trembles as he opens the door.If he had known better, he would've hidden the dagger. But shit happens.

Again, the chapter is short. Well you have my brain to blame. Some days it's like," I will you give you a piece of me but not entirely. I just don't feel like it today."
