This is going to be a boring chapter so brace yourself. Also, if you are a law expert and think I didn't get something right, just blow it away. I don't need a law lesson. I already did that on the internet to be able to write this chapter and it was hectic, trust me.
There are new names in this chapter:
-Judge Wang Daniels.(black gown, purple tippet)
-Michael Harvey is the prosecutor (khaki suit guy).
-Jane Heimlich is Walter's lawyer(blue skirt and white blouse)
-A forensic investigator, Finnick James.(blazer and trouser)
There are going to be three members of the Jury that I won't mention. But if you find a clue hold on to it for future chapters.Names you know that will be present in the trial:
-Walter of course.(in cuffs)
-Jones(jeans,black shirt,blazer)Names I won't mention:
-The Bailiff
- Walter's momJones is with Michael(the prosecutor) They are categorized in the Plaintiff's desk.
Jane, and Walter are categorized in the Defendant's desk.
Let's see which side will win.😝 But I'm sure we all know who will.
.......
"All rise! This court is now in session." The Bailiff says loudly. Everyone stands up as the judge steps into the courtroom. She has a black gown that kisses the floor. Her bobby cut is prim and smart. The bangs on both sides of her face hug her high cheek bones. She steps up to her high seat and smoothes her purple tippet.
"You may all seat." Her voice is loud and strong. Everyone seats and the room is still as the judge puts on her glasses.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the courtroom my name is Wang Daniels and I will be your judge for this case. This be case 2590 on criminal trials, category of murder. This is the criminal case of the accused,Walter Wilkins brought to court to be weighed to conclude if he is or not the killer of the deceased, Steve Phill. With my authority, I enforce that the defendant is innocent until proven guilty." She pauses and peers at the plaintiff's and defendant's desks."Are both sides of the court ready to proceed?"
They all say in unison."Yes your honour."
"Will the Plaintiff start with statement?"
"Yes, your honour."
"Proceed."A tall man with a crisp khaki suit stands up and clears his throat.
"Your honour and members of the Jury, I would like to admit there are no witnesses in Steve Phill's scene of death but Detective Jones Jacob found two pieces of evidence; physical evidence and direct evidence. I would like to present the first piece of evidence. " Judge Wang and the jury signal him to proceed.Michael Harvey walks to the desk and dons gloves and removes a zipper bag from a safe. Walter eyes the case in the bag as he Michael lifts it for everyone to see.
"This is the physical evidence that was used in the murder of Steve Phill."
Judge Wang clears her throat as she assesses the case in the bag from her seat.
"How did it come to be in your hands Prosecutor Michael?""Detective Jones Jacob collected the dagger from Walter Wilkins himself, right in his hands . Detective Jones had assembled his team and had gone to arrest Walter after he confirmed he was a suspect of Steve Phill's murder." Michael points to Jones.
"Will Detective Jones please stand?"
"Yes, your honour." Jones gruffly voice echos in the silence as he lifts his chair quietly to stand."First I must ask for your warrant and official papers to confirm your occupation as a detective." Judge Wang lays out her palm.
Jones produces an envelope on the desk and gives it to the bailiff. The bailiff hands it to her and walks back to the side of the room.
Judge Wang looks through papers for some time and finishes."Very well,Mr. Jones. How did you come to acquire this piece of evidence?"
"Your honour, I had just obtained another piece of evidence;real evidence that confirmed Walter Wilkins as a suspect to the murder of Steve Phill and gathered my team to arrest him. We found him in his apartment holding a case in his hands. We arrested him and took the case. When we got to the police station we searched his belongings and the case and found this dagger."
