Cedric sent Sawyer a letter barely two days before Christmas Break.
A pitch black owl landed on the table in front of her, and she tilted her head at it. The owl did the same.
They blinked at each other, before Sawyer smiled. "Oh, you're the famous Stella Cedric told me all about. Pleasure meeting you," she stroked the owl's head briefly, and she hooted in happiness.
"Who is that?" Fred wondered.
"Cedric sent a letter," she replied simply at the twin who sat next to her. Lee and George were still missing, but she knew they just woke up late and would be there soon enough. She opened it, not before offering a small treat to Stella. "He says that since I'm spending most of Christmas at the Burrow he wants me to drop by at his house too. It's not far, he claims. I don't trust him. He's too fit for me to trust him."
Fred grinned.
It was a few days after the detention, and even though Sawyer arrived to their bedroom that night as promised, they all refused to speak of those matters. George had a feeling those truths would take Sawyer away from them, and talked the other two into his opinion.
"So you're gonna visit him?"
Sawyer knew better than to actually make said plan, but she grinned at Fred. "Why not?"
George and Lee ran into the Great Hall that very moment, Flich screaming "STOP RUNNING!" at them, making them walk briskly over to the table.
"G'morning."
"Hey."
The two loaded their plates, and started eating so quickly Sawyer grew worried.
"I'll... head to Potions now."
"Good luck with Snape," Fred smiled at her brightly, and the other two mumbled something through the food.
Sawyer looked at the twins for a lingering moment, "hey, did you dad send you a letter back already?"
George nodded, swallowing thickly. "I'll show you the letter tonight. We're having a party, yeah?"
"Tell your roommate that, but sure," she attempted to laugh, and the group pretended it didn't sound horribly sad.
::
Her fingers softly brushed through George's hair, his head laid just above her knees. He was slowly lulled to sleep by the soft motions, and Fred's voice that kept telling them about Hermione. Lee was working on his essay with the help of Sawyer, and she kept feeling like the world's worst person.
It was coming any moment now.
"Weasley!" McGonagall's voice called in alarm, "Weasley!" George sat up straight, and Lee looked alarmed at the sudden entrance. Fred's eyes were as wide as his mouth. "Wilde, you too. You need to follow me to the Headmaster's office." Lee looked at his three friends, stretching his hand to place on top of Sawyer's.
"What do you mean, Professor--?"
"I have to wake up Ginny Weasley, but please hurry up and meet me in the common room as soon as possible."
The twins nodded, and they all looked at each other.
"What's going on?"
"No idea," Sawyer admitted. The trio exchanged look.
"You think it's about you always being in our room?"
"But then Lee would be called up too, and why Ginny too?"
"I reckon we'll only know if we follow her," Fred shrugged, standing up. Lee followed them as they trrickled down the stairs, where they stood alone for a moment, before Ginny and McGonagall joined them.
"Jordan, I apologize, I know you are close to the twins but this has to do with the Weasleys."
"And Sawyer?" Lee wondered.
"She's there for other matters."
"Matters of the Order?" Ginny asked curiously.
McGonagall sighed. "Lee knows about Snuffles," Sawyer whispered. McGonagall sighed again, pinching the bridge of her bony nose.
"Yes, it has to do with your father, Sawyer. You will be traveling to London, and I suspect the Headmaster needs you to join your father. But, Ginny, Fred, George..." It was the first time they could remember she called them by their first names. "Arthur, your father... he's hurt. Badly, I suspect. Come on, I'll fill you in on the way."
Urgency hurried their steps, and Lee couldn't leave them, so he followed them as well, and the mismatched group of siblings suddenly knew that all humans were terminal, merely waiting for the end.
And for some, it comes early.

"Back again, the blood-traitor brats. Is it true their father's dying?" the voice of Kreacher spoke bitterly. Sawyer looked around, she was the only one to land on her feet, and hurriedly helped Lee to his feet, the two turning to give the twin closer to them up.
"OUT!" roared a second voice.
They had arrived in the gloomy basement kitchen of number twelve, Grimmauld Place. The only sources of light were the fire and one guttering candle, which illuminated the remains of a solitary supper. Kreacher was disappearing through the door to the hall, looking back at them malevolently as he hitched up his loincloth; Sirius was hurrying towards them all, looking anxious. He was unshaven and still in his day clothes; there was also a slightly Mundungus-like whiff of stale drink about him.
"No, come back." Sawyer spoke strongly, making the house-elf look back.
"Mistress Sawyer!" he called in glee, running up to her. He hugged her legs tightly, and she laughed at the way his face illuminated with his happiness.
"What's going on?" Sirius said, stretching out a hand to help Ginny up. "Thineas Nigellus said Arthur's been badly injured - "
"You should ask Harry," Fred replied.
"I wanna hear this for myself," George agreed.
"I... I had kind of a vision," Harry said, looking at Sawyer. Obviously, she was called up to deal with the vision, and to see if she knew anything about it.
She buried her knowledge very far down, but her heart was very heavy.
"I was standing in the hall, by your dad's side," Harry spoke hurriedly, trying not to look at their eyes for too long, "and this really big snake--"
"Nagini."
"What?"
"It's T--" Sawyer stopped herself from calling him 'Tom', smiling bitterly. "Voldemort's snake. Nagini. Something precious lays in waiting," her voice come out almost like a hiss.
"How do you know?" Harry wondered in a choked whisper.
"I see Nagini often. She carries death in her veins."
"Is Arthur gonna be okay?" Sirius asked, worry in his gray eyes. Sawyer tried to look away from his eyes, to make a lie form in her head. To have her lips tell anything but the truth.
"No. Arthur Weasley will soon take his final breathe."
