Rumple's PoV

Come on, this must work. Just a little dabble of this...

I'd been working on a concoction for my granddaughter Linnea. As it seemed she could only hear her twin brother watching my daughter's pained expression whenever she failed to communicate with her hurt me. A mother should be able to have a link with her own child. This should give her that chance..

A cloud of purple surrounded the vial then disappeared. Belle walked in.

"Rumple, what's that?"

"Something for Rose. She deserves this, as any mother should."

"Alright. She's asked if you would like to have lunch together, just you two later today." Perfect.

"Tell her I would love to." I quickly kissed my wife's head. She left.

Rosaline's PoV

Where's Father? He'd said he'd be here a little while ago. Henry could be left for a while with the twins surely. It was his babysitting day. Where are you Dad?

"Ah there's my little girl." Somehow he'd sneaked in. In the middle of Granny's he'd snuck inside.

"Papa I'm not so little anymore, granted when have I ever been?" He hugged me.

"You could be 800 years old, taller than a mountain and still be my little girl. Now about that lunch.."

"Thanks Ruby. Tell Granny it was delicious as ever. And that I can't wait to see the both of you for Christmas Eve dinner."

"I'll be sure to tell her. See ya Rose!"

I tipped as usual, and walked to my father's Cadillac.

"You know Rose, I think you may be out of practice."

"Out of practice? In what?"

"Magic."

"How can one be out of practice when they were born with it?"

"Can't your Papa teach you a trick or two? I haven't seen much of you, at least not as much as I used to and this afternoon is for us."

"You've still not gotten over giving me away have you?" I smiled and withheld a short laugh.

"Alright alright, you've gotten me. Besides is it all that terrible to spend one afternoon with your father?"

"Where?"

"The forest. There's somewhere special I've made just for us." Made for us?

¤¤¤

"You've truly made this an interesting outing. I didn't expect to be trekking through the forest for quite some time since my 'domestication'."

"What do you think?"

It was magnificent. The snow softly fell and there was no need for a coat, the temperature for us was desirable yet the snow stayed. A small clearing for Rumple to surely conjure something up.

"Now I have realized that your power is mostly composed of Light Magic, but being my descendant you're bound to have an inkling of Dark Magic in you."

"..That I do Father. And I assume you'd have a difficult time teaching me Light Magic as yours is Dark..Perhaps I could teach you something as well.."

Rumple's PoV

My daughter teaching me Light Magic. Could I ever possess an ability to control it? I've only known Darkness as long as I've known magic.

"Father listen to me. Think of something that you would lose your darkness to. Imagine the reaction when Mother finds out that the beast you once were has been enlightened. She'll see then that the man she has married and given herself to is truly the man she believes him to be." She's got a way with her words.

Belle. Belle finally completely sure the Beast that I was is..is good. She'll know that she has changed me for the better. That I can be more than the Dark One..

"Father look!"

In my hands was a small orb of light, it was warm and entrancing. I'm doing this, for real. I'm changing myself.

"Father, you-you're crying?" I only show my true emotions in the presence of those I hold most dear.

"Indeed it seems that way."

"I can only think higher of you. In the matter that you're not afraid to express your emotions in front of others. And in what you're doing now. I'm proud of you Papa."

¤¤

"Now here's a small bloom, see if you can accelerate it's growth." Doing as my daughter had shown a beautiful rose bush grew in front of my eyes. Rose..

"...You know, I believe it's time I taught you something. See this vial? Think of a situation you wish you had some power over..such as Linnea. You desire nothing more than to communicate with her correct?"

"As a mother should."

"Use that desire. Imagine the world in which you could converse with Linnea such as Adam can. Or as you communicate with your son."

Her eyes shone red. More than her name was rose-like, her eyes when normal were green and when magic was involved in any sense they became red, her "cloud" was red and green at the bottom on occasion.

"What am I doing? Why so distinct of a  situation?"

"It's for the both of you. Think of it as a reward for spending the day with your father."

"You mean this? This will.."

"Allow you communication with Linnea. All it took to complete was your desire to have it work."

Tears welled in her eyes. She tightly embraced me, I could feel the dampness of her tears on my suit jacket.

"Papa, you've given me more than I could've thought possible, ever. There couldn't possibly be anything I could give you that would amount to what you've given me."

"The thing is my dear, you've given me something even more valuable. Your mother's trust, your love, you've taught me to use Light Magic instead of my Darkness. For that I am eternally grateful. I love you my daughter.."

Rosaline's PoV

Please. Please work. Give me a way to communicate with my daughter..

Linnea drank the bottle that had the potion mixed in. Her eyes shone red and purple. Both of our magic, Father and I.

Linnea's PoV

"Momma?"

"Linnea? You can tell what I'm saying?"

"How Mother? How can I hear you like Adam?"

"Grandfather showed me how."

"Grandpapa? How'd he do this?"

"Aren't you happy?"

"Yes. It's just different."

"I love you my daughter."
