I woke up to Avocato not being in bed next to me. Rubbing my eyes, I got off the bed and got dressed. Who knew being married had such a weird routine?

Now fully dressed, I made it to the deck, where it was empty, with no one else but Little Cato and Butch, just talking to one another.

".....so cut him some slack, okay? He's been alone since---Oh! Pawblo. How did you wake up, my boy?" Butch was yelling at my tired ass face. Glad that he worries but he does yell a lot.

"I'm good, Dad. Thanks for asking. So....what are you and Little Cato talking about?" My voice was kind of groggy.

"We were just worried about you, ever since yesterday. You okay?"

"Yeah, Dad. I'm fine. Um......son, do you.....do you need anything?"

Little Cato shrugged. "I had breakfast with grandpa."

"Ah.....okay. Just....let me know if you need anything...okay?"

"Sure thing." He got off the chair and ran off to his room. Probably to talk with Ash and Fox or something. I turn to face Butch.

"So? Where is everyone?"

Butch shrugged. "People are just chilling here on the ship, but Gary found out where his mother is. He left with Clarence, Avocato and Tribore to a prison on planet Sorbo to see her be executed."

"Huh. Is this family reunion season or what?"

"We found out through an ad for her execution. Gotta say, she's one heck of a woman."

I pause for a moment to process the sentence that he just spoke. "Wait......waitwaitwaitwaitwait. Dad, are you........are you in love?"

Butch blushed and looked away. "Pfft, no! I'm just......generally interested in her. She seems.......fascinating."

I smirk. "Dad, I'm bisexual. Mostly gay, though. I can easily tell if someone is in love."

Butch sighed and smirked in embarrassment, blushing and scratching his beardy fur. ".....Okay, fine. It's just that I haven't been attracted to anyone this much since your mother."

"Dad, if you're worried about how I feel about you dating someone else, I'm fine with it. Mom sounds like a jerk for leaving you, anyways."

Butch smiled. "Your mother did have a temper. A nasty one, if you lied to her."

"Heh."

"So.....what do I do? Buy her flowers? Impress her in combat? What?"

"Just...be yourself. You'll probably impress her more that way."

"Got it. Thanks, son."

I thought about Butch meeting Gary's mom and them possibly connecting. Gary would sort of be my brother if that happened.

I doubt it, though.
