Fred and George got up early that morning. They didn't really knew why either. Usually they would try to stall to go to their classes as much as they could —for very good reasons, of course— or just completely ditch their classes, especially if they had multiple Potions.
As much as they would rather perfect their new additions to the Skiving Snackboxes, fainting fancies, they also realised the small amount of time they spend with Hope. Spending time with her all their lives, they haven't really thought what would happen if she wasn't as much of a constant as she was before. First year was hell and by the time second year came, they were already anticipating her coming to Hogwarts. Now she was here and they still haven't fallen in their usual pace.
Just as they were about to leave through the portail hole, they heard steps coming towards it. They were ready to freak out whoever was coming in, when the steps stopped. Confused, they peered outside to see who was and found just the person they were looking for.
"Fred, George, what are you doing here?," asked Hope when she arrived in front of them. Even now, while they were still children, she was a minion beside them. Well, one couldn't blame them, as it seemed the Weasley men were all like that.
"In front of our common room? Truly George what are we doing here?"
"Don't know brother. Maybe we got lost? These staircases can give headaches to anyone."
Hope rolled her eyes at their antics "So early in the morning too?"
"We were surprised ourselves! But isn't that for the best? We hardly spent anytime since the the start of the school year and it's almost Christmas too."
"Yeah, aren't you going to your family for the holidays?"
"I don't really know about that. My parents suggested it, but I spent every Christmas with them and I also heard Hogwarts being quite the spectacle this time of year," responded Hope a bit shyly.
"Ohhh, you decided to remain for Christmas when we wouldn't be here?"
"So heartless! Think again, you always spend the holidays with our family so why the change of heart? I bet there will be plenty of times when you'll be forced to remain at Hogwarts for the holiday," said Fred with a frown.
At that Hope looked down at her feet. She thought about that too, but the way her parents and the twins described the Christmas feast was unbearable. She didn't exactly want to return to the usual one. But if the twins and Ron went to their family and Hermione, Harry, Susan and her other friends went home too, who is she really going to spend the Christmas with?
"Yeah, I guess so. I don't really know what made me think that. I love Christmas with you guys!," she said with a smile coming in terms with her decision.
Fred and George blushed slightly at that, before quickly turning the conversation around to distract her.
"So, I think the best question is why are you her? Looking for us so early in the morning? We're flattered!"
Hope then looked up, remembering her mission "No, I've come to see if Hermione is ok after the last night incident."
"What incident?" asked George with a confused frown.
"Hermione was in the bathroom when Professor Quirrell said the troll was in the dungeon. I was afraid the troll somehow found it's way up to the first-floor."
"No need to be so scared, though. Everyone knows trolls are stupid-"
"In fact, they are so synonymous with stupidity that they actually named a failing grade after them," said Fred with a smirk.
