Chapter 30

Kairi's Pov 🥤

I wake up rubbing my left eye and using my right hand to lift myself up from my bed. I move silently so Y/N won't wake up, I look out the window and shudder at how cold it is. It's raining outside so the window is fogged and has raindrops splattered on it.

I get up slowly and put both of the blankets back on Y/N so she won't get cold. I put on my slides and hold the sides of my arms going to my closet to get a sweater. I grab a grey jacket and head towards the restroom.

I'm mixing pancake batter when I hear the floor creek behind me. I turn around and see Y/N yawning closely behind me. "Morning" I say ruffling her hair as she comes closer and gives me a hug.

"Good morning bub," she says backing away.

"I'll tell you when the food is ready mk? Then do you want to go somewhere today later?"

"Sure-ohhh wait, how about we go with the boys to an amusement park on saturday!" She says with wide eyes turning back around.

"Yes." I say pointing towards her."Can you text the group chat from my phone please?"

She nods and rushes back to the bedroom we're my phone is. I put the pancakes in the pancake maker and leave it for five minutes. I go towards the window that we have in the living room and stare out of it. I look around the view and notice a park. I see a little boy and a older girl playing in the rain running around. I pick my head off of my hand and open my mouth slightly at the memories.

"Nina! Look a big puddle!"

"Careful Kairi you can slip and fall."

Kairi turns around with wide eyes and his bottom lip quivering. Begging her to let him play.

"Fine." His caretaker says sighing and walking in the other direction. "I'll be over here okay?"

Kairi just hums okay and continued the run over to the giant puddle. He stops before jumping in and looks into it, seeing his own reflection. It makes him smile at how much he looks like his father whom he loved so much. He's about to jump in when someone grabs his raincoat and holds him above the puddle.

"What the fuck are you doing here?! I told you stay with your babysitter." A man says growling, cold breath hitting Kairi's neck making it tingle.

Kairi notices it's his dad, he's smoking again, only this time at the park since his mother would kick him out of their house if she saw him.

He drops him and Kairi barley lands without slipping on the soaking wet cement. "Daddy, I thought mommy told you no puff."

The dad is confused for a second then remembers Kairi's way of saying smoking was "puff", well since he is five he knows no better. "Do not tell your mother or else we'll have an issue." He spat out.

He pulls Kairi's hair making the poor boy yelp in pain and continue to be dragged throughout the park. "Daddy, please let go dad please it hurts please I love you stop." He says with warm thick tears trailing down his puffy cheeks. His father continues to ignore him and tosses him toward his caretaker.

"I'll be home later, tell your mother." He says to the crying toddler before walking away into the rain. Nina tries to calm down Kairi as he wails and wails asking for his mother. She rushes him home and runs in holding him in her arms towards his mother. Kairi finally calms down and begins to tell his mother about his father before he walks in shooting him a glare and walking into the kitchen. He gulps before simply saying he slipped in a large puddle.
A puddle, just which one?

🍓🍓🍓

*BEEP BEEP*

I shakes my head and rush to the kitchen. The cooker has been over cooked by a a couple of minutes. "Stupid piece of shit." I mutter.

"What happened!!" Y/N says rushing in the kitchen with only a robe and a towel around her hair.

"Sorry I think I fell asleep." I say opening the cooker. Smoke erupts from it and I attempt to fan it away with my hand. I cough and tell Y/N to go change and I can handle it.

I disconnect the cooker from the outlet and put it into the sink, pulling the handle up to let cool water into it. It sizzles as the cold fights the heat of the pan.

I end up making parfaits for breakfast.

This was short but next chapter is going to be longer
