Darkness

Silence.

Silence surrounded the area around the suited male, not a single breeze nor a sound. As the black haired man regained consciousness, his heavy eyelids slowly opened, revealing... nothing? He prodded himself up on one elbow, grabbing at his head as it pounded like church bells. This wasn't the same darkness though; even without his glasses, the male could make out the tiniest light coming from further ahead.

He mustered all of his strength and got up, wobbling at first but soon gaining balance. He walked towards the light, his feet making absolutely no sound against the ground. The man rubbed his eyes, hoping it would clear his vision, but it was ineffective.

As he kept making his way towards the light, he suddenly faltered as he stepped onto a shaky surface. Looking down towards his feet, a bridge met the brown eyed males eyes. A bridge led to the light, and he had no choice but to carefully cross.

"Where the hell am I?"  is all he could think of as he crossed, holding on for dear life.

As he finally reached the platform the light was on, the bridge behind suddenly collapsed. There was no going back now, not like he was planning on doing so anyways. The man sighed and shook his head, turning his attention back towards the light.

There was someone there!

He picked up his pace, reaching a hand towards the persons shoulder. They turned around at the touch, but their face- they didn't have a face, or any hair, only clothes from the neck down.

Before he even got to examine this person, they walked straight through him, and seemed to line up. He turned around and walked towards them again, his eyes landing on three more people.

Two next to the person who walked through him, and one in front of the group. He noticed that one of the people in the lined up group was- him? He reached his hand out towards himself, but the figure vanished before he could touch it, along with the others. In the corner of his eye, the he could make out another light. He started to walk towards it, and another bridge appeared. He did as previously, making his way across. But, at around the end of the bridge, it suddenly collapsed, and he did with it.

Suddenly shooting up, the man once again put a hand to his head, it pounding more than previously. He opened his eyes slowly, but this time he was in a white room on, seemingly, a bed.

"Leorio..?"

A voice to his right asked, dragging out the name. He looked at them, eyes locking with tired grey ones.

"Leorio!" the male besides him exclaimed, wrapping his arms around Leorio gently, his small figure shaking. He pulled away after a while, placing his hands on Leorios cheeks, tears running down like a river during spring

"Im so glad you're okay, I don't know what I would've done if-" he stopped, a shaky breath escaping his lips "if you didn't wake up.." his voice cracked, as he hugged the older male once again.

"So my names Leorio..."

The boy finally retracted from the hug, sitting back down. His hands grabbed Leorios and he smiled, and Leorio couldn't help but feel a warm feeling spread in his chest. It bloomed like a rose, and he felt as he was seeing a rare sight occur. But, he still had one question he needed to ask;

"Who are you?"

The shorter boys face fell, and fear replaced the glint in his eyes he had on just seconds ago. "W-what?" He asked, his voice now trembling and more tears welling up in his eyes.

Leorio took a deep breath and sighed, his eyes wandering around the room. He couldn't look at the pained expression of the boy in front of him, it made his heart feel so heavy even though he didn't know him. A silence curtained the room, until finally the shorter boy spoke.

"My name is Kurapika, and Im your b-best friend..." He spoke out, his voice shaking more than the bridge Leorio was on earlier. Leorio felt guilty; he knew it wasn't his fault he couldn't remember anything, but he felt like he was causing the boy so much pain that he wished he could just take it all away.

"I-I'm sorry" he mumbled out, the blondes eyes shooting up to him immediately.

"No Leorio... Im sorry. It's my fault you got hurt. If i hadn't been so caught up in my revenge, this would've never happened.." He whispered, and Leorio could feel shivers from the way Kurapika said his name.

"You're always taking care of me, always there for me even when I push you away. And now you've lost all your memories because-" his breath hitched, "BECAUSE OF ME!" the blonde screamed, breaking down into Leorios lap.

Leorio didn't know what to do- seeing this complete stranger break down shouldn't bother him whatsoever, yet Leorio felt like his heart had been ripped out and crushed. He stroked the blonde boys hair, simultaneously with his back.

"P-please don't cry... seeing you cry hurts me so much" Leorio mustered out, while Kurapika lazily lifted his head, his teary eyes looking for something in Leorios.

"I-I don't know why.. but seeing you cry makes me want to just take all your pain away" he said, feeling tears of his own coming out of his eyes.

Kurapika quickly sat up and wiped the tears from Leorios face, and hugged him again.

"I'll bring your memories back, I promise." he whispered, nuzzling into the dark haired mans neck.

"LEORIO!" Gon exclaimed, running into the hospital room. Kurapika had told Leorio about Gon and Killua, and asked him to pretend he remembered them.

"Gon, hey!" Leorio smiled, opening his arms up for the other boy to give him a big bear hug. Killua followed into the room, giving Leorio a small wave.

"Hey old man" he said, his usual boring expression attached to his face.

"Hey Kill- OLD MAN?" Leorio asked, annoyance spilling all over his face.

Kurapika stifled a laugh; even without his memories, Leorio still had the same reactions. Kurapika had hoped that bringing Gon and Killua might help Leorio regain some memory, but from the lost look in Leorios eyes he could tell he still didn't remember anything.

Killua had probably also noticed, as he shot a suspicious glance towards Kurapika, who avoided his gaze.

Killua rolled his eyes; he'd confront Kurapika later.

Gon was telling Leorio about how much fun he had on Greed Island, while Killua would occasionally butt in to correct or tease him.

Leorio could tell they were extremely close, and it warmed his heart that these people were his friends.
