Bab 10

ZHAO YUNLAN memandang pasangan yang sedang mendekatinya. Mereka kelihatan mesra bersama. Terkadang dia terfikir jika dia di tempat gadis itu alangkah bahagianya. Tapi, itu tidak mungkin berlaku kerana dia tahu Shen Wei seorang yang setia pada cintanya, malah pada agamanya.

''Zhao Yunlan,'' Shen Wei menegur Zhao Yunlan yang sedang menanti di meja makan.

Zhao Yunlan tersenyum melihat Shen Wei and juga Darina.

''Please have a seat, Shen Wei and... Darina, right?'' Zhao Yunlan mempelawa.

''Thank you, Chief Zhao,'' Darina membalas dengan panggilan yang formal.

''Oh, please! Just call me with my name, Darina. No chief with me, okay since you are my friend's wife,'' Zhao Yunlan meminta.

Darina tertunduk malu. Namun, dia tetap mengangguk faham. Shen Wei hanya tergelak kecil. Zhao Yunlan tersenyum manis melihat Shen Wei yang kini kelihatan bahagia bersama Darina. Mungkin Zhao Yunlan tidak patut lagi mengharapkan cinta dari lelaki ini. Mereka memberitahu pelayan restoran akan menu pilihan untuk makan malam itu dan mereka kembali terdiam, melayani perasaan masing-masing.

''Yunlan, I am sorry about the real me and also about your confession to me,'' Shen Wei tiba-tiba bersuara meminta maaf.

Zhao Yunlan tersentak dan dia tergamam seketika apabila Shen Wei menyatakan akan luahan hati di depan gadis ini. Shen Wei menyedari yang Zhao Yunlan seperti segan di hadapan Darina apabila dia menyatakan soal hati. Mungkin Zhao Yunlan takut jika Darina mengamuk atau menyalahkannya.

''Well, my wife is already knew about your confession to me since we both never have any secret. And she can understand our situation. So now, I want to tell you that I just want to be a friend with you. Not beyond of that. I hope you can understand, Yunlan. I know we worked together for almost a year and unconsciously I caused you developed a love to me within you. But honestly I told you that I never love you the way you want. I love you as a friend, a good friend. You are my good friend in here, Yunlan. But not for the romance love. You know, I am a Muslim. My religion forbid that kind of love between guys. And I myself can't stand of that kind of love, Yunlan. That kind of love can't give us any benefit. We will not get any baby from that love, not when we choose a girl to be our spouse. Why not you try to love a girl, instead of guy? I saw Zhu likes you,'' Shen Wei menjelaskan dengan panjang lebar, namun di akhirnya dia memberi cadangan apabila teringat pada gadis yang bekerja di bawah Zhao Yunlan.

Zhao Yunlan terpana untuk seketika sebelum dia tergelak kecil. Darina di sisi hanya menjadi pemerhati.

''Shen Wei, you suggested the same as Da Qing to give a chance to Zhu. But I don't have a heart for her. My heart is only for you. But as you told me that you can't accept me, so I just can be your friend. Good friend maybe. And Darina, I am sorry that I love your husband. But looking at him now, I guess I am defeated to get him from you. His love for you and your religion is too tight. I can't break his love for you and your religion. I am sorry to be in between. But please allow me to be his good friend. He still has a year in here and I just hope within this year, we can be a good friend, instead of enemy. Can we, Shen Wei?'' Zhao Yunlan bertanya setelah dia menyatakan sejujurnya isi hati kepada kedua suami isteri ini.

Darina tergamam seketika. Tapi dia masih betah untuk berbicara. Fikirannya masih waras untuk menilai baik buruk keadaan. Dia bukanlah seorang yang mudah melatah dengan sesuatu keadaan. Darina tersenyum manis buat Zhao Yunlan.

''Zhao Yunlan, to be honest with you, I feel jealous too to see you be closed to my husband. I am afraid if my husband will fall for you. But when I heard your confession now and my husband's confession too, I am relieved and assured now. I just hope you can be a good friend to my husband and not beyond of that,'' Darina membalas sejujurnya.
