There were a lot of boys in Ishika's class whose names started with 'A'.And they weren't really simple names. There were 'Abhirup' and 'Avijit','Arkadeep' and 'Arkoprobho','Abhranil' and 'Abhradip'....and honestly,it was really confusing for her.

One day while returning home with her mother,Ishika pointed to a boy and said,"Mom,that's Abhradip from our class."

"No dear,it's Abhranil.What's your name?",asked the boy's mother.

"Ishika"

"Where do you live?"

"Agarpara.I go by train."

"We go by train as well.We stay at Belgharia."

[Agarpara is two stations away from Dumdum by train.Belgharia is between Agarpara and Dumdum.]

And Ishika finally got a companion of her age for her train travel. It was the same for Abhranil. They always used to quarrel over the precious seat by the window, their mothers struggling to keep them calm. But by next morning they would always forget what had happened, again become friends sharing their tiffin during recess, and fight all over again on their way back home.Ishika's mother could nomore pick her up from school due to her job and her maternal grandfather took up the responsibility.Nothing much changed except the fact that Ishika could now nag her grandfather to buy her this and that.

Friendship blossomed between Ishika and Abhranil and between their mothers. He was shy and introvert,Ishika was fun-loving and extrovert. But despite differences, they remained close friends until Abhranil had to shift to Bangalore at the beginning of class 8.Ishika was crestfallen to let go of her only male best friend but that was the only thing she could do.She gave him a framed photograph, one which had been clicked on Annual Day when they were in U.Kg......they holding each other's shoulder and their mothers standing behind them, smiling.

Don't think Abhranil never came back.He did, after two years and yes, they had called each other on many occasions during those two years. They still do.But yeah, somewhere in between the warmth of their friendship had faded. He was surely still a friend, but she didn't really feel like sharing everything with him anymore like the old days. That thing called time had changed both of them....she had become introverted and he now liked socializing.

Out of four friends, distance had managed to drift two friends apart-Ishika and Abhranil.

For the other two, however, distance couldn't affect much....their mothers still remain best friends.

[P.S.:There was no one called Arkoprobho.I just made him up.]
