I met Arjya before I took admission in WWACES. We knew each other from Deepsikha(we used to call it Sishu Vihar).

Before introducing Arjya, I would like to clarify a few things. Arjya is not the antagonist of this story though you may feel so at times as the story progresses. This character has many shades and in my eyes, not all of them are dark.

Arjya is probably my first friend and yes,she is the only character who plays a major role from the beginning till the end of the protagonist's schoollife. Who is the protagonist!? Come on man,it's freaking me!!

Let's get back to the point. As I was saying,I met Arjya at Sishu Vihar. Both of us had the same haircut(boys' cut) and yeah, she had a formidable character since then which somehow I liked.I befriended her because back then I felt she was like me,maybe because we had identical haircuts.Stupid logic,I know, but what more do you expect from a four year old kid?

Slowly but gradually, while preparing for our admission exam at WWACES, Arjya and I bonded over Spiderman and Barbie .I started considering her my best friend.School became a gloomy thing on days when Arjya was absent.I laugh when I think about it now.Stupid me!

I did another stupidity back then.Once my mom was late in picking me up from school.I was worried like hell.Priyanka Ma'am and Sanhita Ma'am were consoling me saying,"Your mom must have been caught in a jam".Now the only 'jam' the four-year-old me knew was 'Kissan Mango Jam' and I started wondering,"Did ma become Gulliver and get caught in that stupid jar of mango jam?"I think I don't need to write about my teachers' reaction when I voiced my concern.Yeah, that was how I was introduced to the never-ending problem of Kolkata-traffic jams.

Soon a year passed and all the students at Sishu Vihar were being prepared for the Annual Ceremony.I was to recite and enact "Cobbler Cobbler" and as expected all of us were quite excited.

So on the d-day,dressed in our best, we kiddos started performing.I still remember that I was wearing a black top and a golden skirt...do I need to say how cute I was looking?Nah,I think you can imagine.

I just remember three things from that day:

1)I pulled off my "Cobbler Cobbler" successfully. After performing I had looked at the audience and obviously I couldn't find my parents amidst so many people.I felt like crying...I thought they had left me..how am I to go home?Obviously I didn't cry on stage but yeah,I was in tears in the backstage. My teachers were like"Why are you crying?" and me being me replied in sobs,"Ma left me".Yeah my poor teachers had a tough time convincing me that my parents were right there.

2)Arjya was playing a baker in some skit and she had to twirl around once and that was when the accident happened.Nah,she didn't fall...her bakers' hat fell.It would have been an accident if any other child was in her place cause any four year old would have panicked if their hat fell off on stage. But Arjya being Arjya didn't give a damn about her hat and continued doing whatever she was supposed to do.Impressive, isn't it?

3)I had doi fuchka from the canteen which used to be there near front gate and it was really tasty.

Another thing before I end Arjya's chapter.'Forevermore' could have been perfect to describe the relation between me and Arjya if that nasty shrewd thing called 'competition' hadn't barged in to make things complicated.
