This is finally it. The day I go off to University. The sun has barely made its presence known in the dark purple sky.I stare out my window and look at the backyard. The backyard I spent my whole childhood in. The backyard where I and my friends hung out all my teenage years.
I look from the large pool and its deck over to where my old swing set were sat, swaying in the gentle breeze of the early morning.
I turn away and start looking around my bedroom. My bedroom. The room I spent all my 19 years of life in. The walls that were painted a pastel ombre, combining the colors pink, grey, blue and orange.
I've been in this room ever since I was born. This was my nursery, up until I got my first big girl bed and then when I had all my furniture replaced in my teenage years.
I never repainted the walls because I loved them and they were always a small reminder that gave me a feel of my childhood.
I looked at my suitcases that were packed and waiting by my bedroom door. The clothes that I was to wear was on my bed and ready to be worn.
A pair of white shorts, a dark blue tank top and a white camisole. It was a casual outfit. I was going to be sitting in an airplane for approximately 8 hours anyways so it didn't matter.
"Illiana, are your things packed already?" my mother called to me from across the hall. Her and my father's bedroom was on the other side of the hallway.
"Yea mom, I'm about to go take a shower right now" I replied. I went and got my towel and headed to the bathroom.
I stripped my clothing before I faced the mirror and started to brush the knots from my long tangled hair.
My dark blonde wavy curls fell above my butt with a very silky texture. My forest green eyes that seemed to sparkle under the white fluorescent light of the bathroom were wide and alert despite me being up so early.
I then brushed my teeth and went to take a shower. I washed my hair and stood under the warm water for as long as I possibly could, wanting to relish in the last moments I have at home.
The time is ticking and I was on a schedule so I turn off the water and start to dry myself and my hair.
When I exit the bathroom I see my mother standing at her bedroom door, already dressed and waiting for me to be done.
Her dark blonde hair, that matched my own, was a bit shorter, cut just below her shoulders. She was wearing a simple purple dress that had a close fitting top, strings tied around the waist and it flared below the waistline. She had light natural looking makeup added to her face, enhancing the green of her eyes that lately seemed to have flecks of amber in them.
"Hey baby, goodmorning" she says. She walks over and hugs me before we both walk into my bedroom together. She closes the door behind her, allowing me to get dressed.
After I put on my underwear and clothes I sit down and allow her to blow dry my hair.
"I'm going to miss you so much baby. I don't know what I'm going to do without my little Illiana" she says as she runs moisturizer into my hair and starts to detangle it.
"Oh mom, I'm going to call you and facetime you every chance I get. There's no need to worry" I try to console her.
I pick up my cellphone and check the time. It was now 4:30 a.m. The earliest I've ever been awake without being grumpy.
