When I was through with our representative  contemporary dance piece, I was greeted with a not so pleasant face from my dear friend Kelly.

Her arms were folded across her chest and her leg was bouncing as she sat on the bench.

Her phone was in a tight fist as she glared at me, and so I know exactly what this was all about.

A wide smile covered my face. "Whatever could be wrong dear Kelly? You seem a tad bit upset" I spoke to her.

"Oh it's on Adams" she said as she stood to her feet and smiled mischievously at me. "Like Donkey Kong" I said and she let out a laugh.

"Are you serious? Like Donkey Kong? How much of a geek are you" she said while laughing and shoved my shoulder playfully.

I too started to laugh and shrugged my shoulders. "What? It felt appropriate at the moment, leave me alone" I tried to defend myself but couldn't resist to join in on her laughter.

"Come on, sit with me" she pulled my elbow and I sat beside her on the bench.

"I didn't know you could dance like that. You were amazing" Kelly said to me and I smiled at her. "Flattery will get you nowhere young one" I said to her and she scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Young one? Yeah you are older than I am but a mere 3 months so calm down" she says and I smile, having the upper hand by boasting about being elder.

"Anyways how did you find out about what I did? Did you go back and read the messages like a crush stricken teen?" I joked and she glared at me which made me laugh out loud.

Luckily there was a song playing with a heavy beat for the group practicing hip hop / street dancing, so nobody heard my loud outburst.

"Haha very funny. And no, I rather got a very enthusiastic call about where our date would be and what I should wear" she informs me. "Oh, so where will your date be?" I asked.

"We're going to the bowling alley" she says and lifts her foot and crosses it over her knee, allowing her to rub her toes.

"Your feet hurt?" I ask her. "Yeah, just a bit though. Nothing to worry about, I'm used to it, being a dancer and all" she says to me.

"You forgot that I'm a dancer as well. I know all about that, I'm just glad mine aren't hurting as yet, being that I haven't danced all summer".

"Ok that was great guys. We will do a couple basic dance moves with you all to complete our evaluation and hopefully we will be done by 2:00. Our other practices will be longer so keep that in mind but being that this is evaluation day, I'll let you guys off the hook a bit earlier today" Riley speaks to us all and a couple guys let out a cheer and she chuckles at this.

"Here in my hand I have a list of 60 names. By the end of the session I will be calling some out, and those will be the ones who made the team" she said and I looked around in disbelief.

This could not really be 60 people. Could it? I could have sworn it was about 30 or so. Anyways I take my position next to Kelly with about 4 feet between us.

They showed us a couple moves that we had to mimick. I noticed both Julie and Riley taking notes. They made us hold certain positions like a pointed toe and other dance positions for a certain amount of time, to see how skilled we are in our element.

"Ok that is the end of it. If you could all take a seat to the side, I would appreciate that" Riley says and by now I am full on sweating and feeling sticky and disgusting.

I went over to where our bags were but I sat on the floor this time.

Julie brought out a picninc basket and placed it on the table next to the stereo.

"Ok when I call your name please come up where you will each get a Dance Society badge, indicating that you are a member" Riley says. Julie holds up a badge that she took from the basket and shows us.

"Ok first member that has secured her spot is Illiana Adams" Riley speaks and everybody starts clapping. I get up and walk up to where Julie stood and she handed me a badge.

I go back and take my seat on the floor. Riley then proceeds with the name calling and after a while I realize that she was calling in alphabetical order, according to last names.

And here i was feeling special that i was the first to make it. Ha!

    I still made it though.

"Kelly Sanders" Riley spoke and immediately a smile broke out on my face. Kelly stood up from the bench and walked up to Julie, getting her badge and coming back to sit next to me.

"Yay, we both made it!" I said happily and she came down to the floor and hugged me.

"Eww, I shouldn't have done that" she said immediately afterwards and I laughed at this. "Yeah, you probably shouldn't have" I replied to her earlier statement.

If you are confused, let me catch you up. Our sticky, sweaty bodies touched and it felt disgusting.

Riley finished calling the names and it appeared that bout 15 people didn't make the cut. She had told them that she didn't think dancing were some of their strong suits and they all accepted her constructive criticism.

"Ok guys, boys' locker rooms are to the left and the girls' are to the right. Next practice will be on Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Thank you for coming today" Riley said and that was all that was needed for the people in the room to start chatting with each other and getting noisy.

Kelly and I got our bags and headed to the shower stalls. I got rid of my sticky icky clothing and when the warm water ran down my back I felt so at ease.

                          ❤❤❤
