"Flight 3041, non stop to London, boarding in 1 hour" I read off the board that showed the flights and all the information needed for boarding.I stand in the line in which passengers were to join and wait patiently as the security checks the people up ahead and their boarding passes. There was about 10 people in front of me at the moment.
"You sure you have everything baby" my mom says and runs her hand through my waves and I smile, feeling the emotions that I was trying to dodge earlier, slowly start to make their presence known.
"I do mom. I promise that I will call you guys as soon as I get settled in" I tell her, trying to reassure her that I will be fine.
"Great, now you're all checked in. This is where we stop, we can't go pass that line. Now give me a hug princess" my father says as he comes over to us and hands me my boarding pass.
I hug him close to me and my mother joins in, making it a group hug. After I felt satisfied enough I pulled away and turned towards Annabelle.
"Hey Anna, come here" I said to her. She always tried to play tough but I know that she has just as much love for me as I have for her.
She walks closer to me and looks at my face. I look into her emerald eyes and smile, this makes her smile too, only her smile was a sad one.
"I'm going to miss you Illiana" she says and wraps her arms around my sides. I squeeze her closer to me and she places her head on my shoulder.
"I'll call you and we can text everyday. I still want to know what happens with that boy you like" I say to her and her cheeks turn bright red as she runs her nape.
"Speaking of boys, if any of those boys at that school even get the slightest idea that they can hurt my baby girl, I'll be on the next flight over there. I wish I could relay the message myself" he says sternly and I chuckle.
"Ok dad, I'll make sure to let them know" I say. I walk up to the security and hand her my boarding pass. She checks my book bag, being that it was my only carry on item and then gives me approval to move ahead.
"I love you guys" I say to my family and they return the act of love before I walk away, leaving them behind.
I wait until it was time for me to board the flight and when I did that I immediately took out my headphones and my travel pillow and finished getting my sleep that I missed out on this morning.
~~~
The plane ride was a smooth one, no turbulence or any delays. I must commend them for that.
It was now almost 10 in the night due to the time difference between Illinois and London, and I am in the back of the cab that was pulling up to the large metal gates of London University.
They were open, I assume that they would be closed when the school year officially begins but for now they stay open for the new comers.
"We are here miss. Would you like me to help you unload your bags?" the cab driver spoke to me.
"I would appreciate that, thank you" I said to him. When the car stopped at the entrance of the main hall I got out and got my stuff from the trunk.
The cab driver hauled out the largest suitcase and placed it on the sidewalk for me.
"Thank you for your service" I said to him and he tipped his head and smiled before he got into his cab and drove away.
A lot of students were around. Some loitering about in small groups, chattering and laughing. Some others were like me, walking with bags and luggage, making their way to the main hall.
I swung my book bag over my shoulder, took the two medium sized suitcases in one hand and the largest in the other and dragged them behind me to the information desk.
"Good night, may I have your student code please?" the man at the desk spoke politely as I approached him. "Oh yes, give me a sec" I said.
I opened the small compartment of my book bag and took out the code which I had written on a sticky note and handed it to him.
He typed it into the computer before him and soon afterwards I heard the photocopier come to life. He printed a couple papers before he placed them into a brown envelope and handed them to me.
"Here you go Ms. Adams. All the information you need are in this folder. Here is your dorm key and if you look into the folder you will see your room number.
Your room is in Burkley Hall which is the building to the left of this building when exiting, you will find your room there.
If you have any enquiries you may call the number on the front of your transcript. He a good rest of night" he says to me and I thank him as I walk away and he addresses the next person.
I follow his instructions and when I enter Burkley Hall I stop and take out the papers and examine them.
My name is on the front page in big block letters. Illiana Cassandra Adams.
Below that is my student information, where I found my room number and my student code.
My room is Room 23 A. I looked at the walls and noticed that the left wall had a large A on it and the right side had a large B. I walked down the hall and noticed that each wall had 15 rooms before they each bent the corner and the rooms continued there.
After I turned the corner and walked along I found room 23 A. I opened it with my key card and dragged my bags inside behind me.
It was a large room. It had a single bed on either side of the room. The room was basically split in two. Each side of the room had a desk and chair, a closet and a chest along with the small bed.
'Well, here's to a fresh start'.
