Bestfriends With My Doppelganger

Chapter 13

     I was so excited that I could hardly sleep so I had no problem being on time this morning. Marisol on the other hand, I had to try to wake her up three times before she was fully awoken.

    She was currently showering while I gathered my stuff and put them together. I put my purse, some books and my pencil case into my book bag.

   I looked over my schedule on the student portal and saw that our Hall President was to take us to a meeting with the Chancellor at 10 a.m in the Assembly Hall for approximately half of an hour.

    After that I had Introduction to Business Studies for 2 hours and then I'm free until 2 p.m for Marketing Skills class.

   "Marisol hurry up, it's almost 10" I shout and I hear her turn the shower off. A notification popped up from my student portal. It was from Deborah Milton. It was a reminder that we were to meet in the hall by 9:50 so we could walk to the Assembly Hall in time for our meeting.

    It was now 9:39 a.m.

   I finished lacing up my shoes before I got up and smoothed out my skirt. I was wearing a black pleated skirt with a white button down blouse and I had my sleeves cuffed at my elbows.

   I was wearing my black converse and a pair of black big framed nerd glasses that were not medicated. My hair was in a high ponytail and it fell to the side in it's natural wave pattern.

    "You look cute, that's a good look on you. I didn't know you were into geek chic" Marisol said. She was wrapped in a towel and was using a different towel to dry her curls.

   "I'm into anything that looks cute" I said and smiled at her. She nodded and I turned to give her some privacy because I know she was one who may just drop her towel and not care about any bystanders.

    She hurriedly got dressed in some dark blue jeans shorts that had suspenders and a white tank top tucked inside. She put on her black combat boots and finished drying her hair as she packed her book bag.

   I went into my chest that was by the foot of my bed and got out my laptop. I placed it into my bag and did a double check to make sure I had all that I needed.

    "Come on, let's go, or we're gonna be late" I said to her. "I'm coming, I'm coming" she says. She takes an elastic band and ties her hair into a quick ponytail with the curly ends fuzzing out at the back.

    I grabbed my book bag and slung it over my shoulder. She did the same as well and we went out the door.

   A lot of students were gathered in the main hall and I noticed Deborah was standing up by the front, scrolling through her cellphone. I checked my cellphone and saw that it was now 9:48 which meant we had 2 minutes till we would head over to the Assembly Hall.

    "Illiana! Hey, over here" Nerissa calls out to me from across the hallway. I look over and see her leaning against the wall alongside Kelly.

    Kelly waves at me and I smile at her. "Marisol, come on" I lock our elbows together and walk over to where the girls were.

   "Goodmorning" I greeted them and they replied with their own good mornings. "You look so cute!" Kelly compliments me and I giggle before thanking her.

   "Thank you Kelly and I must say you two are gorgeous as well, and I'm not just saying that" I reply to her and I meant what I said.

   Kelly was wearing black skinny jeans that were cuffed at the ankles, black ankle boots and a navy blue and white striped tank top. She had a black scarf flung across her shoulder along with her book bag on her shoulder. A navy blue head band held her hair out of her face as it fell in its waves down her back.

    Nerissa on the other hand dressed a bit more on the cheery side. She was wearing a pink and blue floral printed dress that was close fitted, along with nice sandals and her book bag on her shoulder. Her hair was in a ponytail and the end was braided.

    "Thank you" Nerissa said.

     "How're you guys feeling?" Nerissa asks and Marisol shrugs her shoulder as she scrolls through her phone.

   "Good I guess, I'm actually a bit anxious" I confess. First day as an official University student.

  "Goodmorning my fellow Burkley Hall students, I'm Deborah Milton the president of the hall. I've met some of you already but I have yet to meet some of you as well. Today is the official start of the school year and I genuinely hope you all have the best time as we learn together and live together.

    If you guys could follow me, it's time for our meeting with the Chancellor" Deborah starts speaking and catches our attention.

   She leaves the hall and we all walk behind her until we entered the Assembly Hall.

   Up on the podium stood a petite lady. She was dressed in a dark grey pencil skirt suit and seemed to not be any older than 35. She was blonde and her hair was in a low bun at the back of her head and when she looked up to smile at us her hazel eyes were warm.

   "Good morning students, I'm pleased to be giving you your official London University welcome" she speaks and her accent is a strong British one.

  "I'm Rebecca Irvine, the Chancellor of this fine establishment. There will be a small activities fair between the times of 12 noon and 3 p.m for all who are interested. This will be taking place on the lawns in front of the main building.

   You may check your schedules and on this you will see what classes you have, their times and where they will be held. If you have any more questions, I have to the side of the room some members of the student council, ready to assist in anyway you need. If you look you'll notice some banners on the wall showing what studies a council member may be able to assist you with.

  You may take the rest of this session to sort out your schedules before your classes start at 10:30, thank you for your attention and do have a wonderful day" she says.

   After her speech the hall began buzzing with chatter.

    "Hey, we'll see you guys at the activities fair. Have a great first class" Kelly says and she hugs me before hugging Marisol. Nerissa just waves at us and they walk over to a boy that was under a banner labeled Law.

   Marisol and I walk over to a young lady that was by the banner Business and Marketing. She was addressing the small group that gathered before her and I tried to tune into what she was saying.

    "Is this spot taken?" I hear somebody ask beside me. I zone out of listening to the girl and noticed a boy standing beside me. "Oh hey, yeah, you can stand there" I say to Alistare.

   Marisol looks at me and smirks before returning her gaze to the girl that was talking to us. "Could I interest you in going to the activities fair with me later today?" he asked hopefully. I looked over to him fully and smiled.

   "Well I will be going either way, so I guess we could go in the company of each other" I say to him and I cringe internally at how weird what I said had sounded.

   He chuckled and said "Okay".

   I tried to tune back into what the girl from the student council was saying but my mind was somewhere else and I couldn't help but show the smile and blush that was currently invading my face so I held my head down for the rest of this meeting.
