The hospital was crowded. Just crowded enough to make five year old Aurora want to run and hide and wished she had her mother back. But she didn't. Aurora only had her father who was being treated by doctors. Right at that moment she had no one. She was surrounded by strangers. Some of the strangers looked nice whilst others looked mean.

Aurora felt tiny in a vast room of people much bigger than her. She got off of the seat she was in and she went underneath it. Aurora hugged her knees to her chest just as someone sat down. The persons feet was inches away from her face. Aurora glanced to her right and she saw a small pair of feet dangling from the other chair. She heard the people above her talking softly and a small race car fell on the floor.

The pair of feet hoped down from the chair and a boy around Aurora's age crawled underneath. The two made eye contact. The boy had curly light brown hair and he held his hand out to her. Aurora grabbed his hand and she crawled out from the chair. Aurora stood up and she looked at a lady who had long brown hair. She smiled nicely at Aurora.

Aurora tried to get up on the chair but she was too short. The nice lady picked her up and set her down. The lady did the same for the boy.
"Hi. I'm Brielle Bradshaw and this is my son, David," Brielle said, "What's your name?"
"I'm Aurora Raine Young," she replied shyly.
"That's a pretty name, Aurora. So where's your parents?" Brielle asked

Brielle looked at Aurora who was frowning and she was trying not to cry. She felt bad for asking Aurora.
"I'm sorry, sweetie," she apologized.
"It's fine," Aurora replied, "My mommy left daddy last night and daddy..."
Brielle noticed that Aurora couldn't finish the sentence and the little girl started crying. Before she could comfort her, David showed her his stuffed animal which was a bear. Then the two started playing with each other.

David and Aurora played together for a few hours until a nurse came out and asked,
"Aurora Young?"
Aurora looked up from playing with David and she looked at Brielle with her heart pounding in her chest. Brielle stood up and she picked up Aurora and David followed. Aurora looked at the nurse who had blonde hair, she noticed that her name tag said 'Amy.' The nurse reminded her of her mother. Aurora wouldn't look at her.

"I'm guessing you're Aurora," she heard the nurse say, "well your daddy wants to see you."
Aurora looked at the nurse completely forgetting that she looked like AnnMarie. She held her hands out to Amy who took her. Then they all started walking down the hallway. Aurora was smiling and bounced up and down excitedly in the nurses' arms as they went into a room and Aurora saw her father sitting in a chair. He looked up and he smiled.
"Daddy!" Aurora said happily

Adam got off the chair and he bent down. His daughter ran to him and he picked her up and spun her around.
"Hey Aurora," Adam said as he held her.
"Hi," she replied.
Adam sighed happily and he ran his hand through Aurora's hair. Then Aurora looked at him and she pointed to a lady who was in the room holding a boy around Aurora's age. Just looking at her made butterflies form in Adam's stomach. She's beautiful. Then Adam walked over to her. He held out his hand and the two shook.

"I'm Adam Young. Or-"
"Or Owl City," the lady cut in, "yes I know who you are. And I hope that didn't sound rude."
Adam blushed. "Nah. It didn't," he said shyly, "so um thanks for taking care of my daughter Miss..."
"Oh um Bradshaw. I'm Brielle Bradshaw and this is my son David," she said, "and you're welcome. She's a beautiful kid."

Adam was going to say 'You're beautiful too' but he didn't. Get a grip Adam. Your wife just left you and you're already flirting with a compleat stranger, he thought to himself. Adam sighed and they walked out in silence. They walked down the white hallway and Adam headed toward the front desk. He signed out then he followed Brielle outside. The sun was beginning to rise and it bathed everything in a golden light. Next, the two headed towards town.

"So wanna go get something to eat?" Adam asked after they crossed an intersection.
Brielle didn't respond right away. She looked at Adam and said,
"Oh uh sure."
Then she called for David who was up ahead with Aurora. They were staring at the window of a candy shop. Adam chuckled.
"Come on, darling. Let's go get something good to eat and maybe we'll come back here," Adam told his daughter.

Aurora looked at her dad.
"Okay," she replied.
Then she grabbed her dad's hand and the four of them walked across the street to a diner.
