"yoongi, what will happen if you quit your father's company?" you asked one very shocked min yoongi.

"my dad would have to appoint the next higher up as ceo, why?"

"then quit! what are you waiting for? go follow your dreams!" yoongi looks away and wipes his eyes.

"it's not that easy y/n.."

it wasn't about being stuck in his job, it was about disappointment. his father was so proud of him when he graduated college with a business degree, he didn't want to see that disgusted look on his father's face. it was so much more than drowning in paperwork.

"i push my friends away because they have always been there for me, and they know that the life i have right now isn't what i want. they're my brothers, and i push them away." yoongi laughs mockingly at himself. "what kind of person have I turned into?"

you grab yoongi's cheeks in your hands, rubbing your thumbs under his eyes to catch any stray tears.

"yoongi, i have never met anyone like you, ever. you're smart, and kind, and funny, and versatile, and beautiful. your heart is beautiful yoongi, your soul is beautiful, you are beautiful. you are worth it min yoongi, and i will do whatever it takes to prove it to you and everyone around you. your friends keep coming back because they love you, and they know that the boy who lived his life happily, fueled on dreams, is still in there. please don't give up."

yoongi burst into sobs, hunching over, trembling. you wrap your arms around his shoulders and he cries into your chest, hands grasping your sweater for comfort. you run your hands through his fluffy hair as his sobs diminish to quiet sniffles, whispering comforting words by his ears.

"you're going to be okay, yoongi."

.

yoongi walked back to the hotel alone, jeongguk had returned earlier. just thinking about jeongguk and his friends brought a new wave of tears to his eyes, a heavy rock of guilt pitting itself in his stomach, and he cursed himself for breaking down so easily. what had you done that brought out his vulnerable side? yoongi walked solemnly through the building, reaching his room in a couple minutes. yoongi could hear the water running and jeongguk's faint singing voice from outside of the door, and he rested his forehead against the door, hand on the doorknob. A lone tear trailed down his left cheek and he opened the door, draping his coat over a chair and kicking his shoes off.

he sat on the end of one of the beds, resting his elbows on his knees and putting his head in his hands. the water shut off a minute later, and jeongguk's voice enhanced in volume. yoongi stayed silent as jeongguk wrapped up his shower, tears never really stopping. jeongguk steps out of the bathroom humming what sounds like one of namjoon's songs, and puts on clothes without noticing that yoongi is on the bed, teetering on the edge of having a breakdown.

"gguk.." yoongi's voice comes out strained and watery, and it cracks on the word. jeongguk spins around, clutching his now clothed chest.

"jesus yoongi, you scared m- yoongi?" jeongguk only then notices his hyung's teary eyes and flushed face, trembling hands, and crestfallen expression.

jeongguk is speechless, he's never, ever seen yoongi cry. he was always strong and cold. he had never even see yoongi sad. jeongguk remembers talking to namjoon about it, recalling what he said.

"i was friends with yoongi when his brother died. that was the last time i had seen him cry, and he promised himself that he wouldn't appear as weak ever again after what his father had done to him."

jeongguk rushed to yoongi, kneeling below him and putting his hand on yoongi's arms.

"hyung, what's wrong?"

yoongi looked up at jeongguk through dewy lashes, and suddenly threw his arms around the younger's shoulders.

"I'm so, so sorry gguk." Yyoongi sobbed the apology into jeongguk's shoulder, soaking his shirt with salty tears.

"for what hyung? you did nothing wrong." jeongguk tries to defend but yoongi shakes his head and pulls back, wiping his nose.

"i've done everything wrong. all you guys have ever done was be kind and patient, a-and i've always pushed you away, and i'm sorry, and it was wrong, i'm such an asshole, if you don't want to be my friend anymore i understand." yoongi finished his rambling and wiped his eyes, curling in on himself.

"woah woah woah, hey. yoongi, look at me." yoongi tearily looks at his friend and tries to hold in the tears, but a couple escape anyway. jeongguk has this delicate emotion on his face that yoongi can't pinpoint, but he's looking at him like he's going to break and it makes his stomach churn with a feeling he's not used to. "yoongi, you are struggling with your life, and that's okay. we don't expect you to be perfect. we all love you, okay? we just want to help, we miss your smile, we miss your laugh. please come back to us." yoongi nods weakly and jeongguk throws his arms around him, comforting him while he sobs.

that night, yoongi sleeps the most comfortably he's slept in months, right in his best friend's arms.
