Emma's POV

Alex gently set me down on the couch in her room and immediately went to pacing back and forth across the room.

My eyes followed her frantic movements, "Alex, I can tell you are angry."

She stopped her pacing and just stood there, squeezing her hands into fists as her long nails cut into her skin, "He wanted to kill you."

I stared at the blood dripping down her hands, "Stop that... I am mad at him too for giving you a black eye but give him a chance. He is Larus' mate."

She sighed and uncurled her fists, "I will only forgive him when I am sure that he won't hurt you. Until then, I want you to stay away from him. You should get some sleep. It is late."

I curled up in her bed while she went over to the window, "I am going out to heal myself. Stay here until I come back."

"Alex, wait."

She turned back around, "What do you need?"

"You can take my blood. It will be faster."

"No," With that she jumped out the window leaving me alone.

It would have been easier. I don't understand what she is so afraid of. Is my blood not good enough for her or something?

I sighed and fell asleep instantly. It felt like only a few minutes when I woke up with the sun outside. I looked around the room not seeing Alex.

Oh she isn't back yet.

I stood up and stared at the door.

Like hell, I am staying here.

I tried the door, "Damn it, Alex."

I knew it. She locked it and she thinks I can't just climb.

I went over to the window sill and swung my legs over.

Thank god these bricks stick out a bit. Still not a fan of heights though.

I swung my body down and gripped onto the edge of the bricks, slowly climbing down.

Don't look down, Emma.

I swung myself down into the window below me. When I landed, I looked around at the shelves of books.

Cool, I am in the library.

Larus and Elijah were sitting in chairs in front of me in their humans. Both had books in their hands. Larus looked up from his book and laughed, "Where did you come from?"

I looked back over to the window, "Alex thought she could lock me up last night, but she left the window open. So, I am here."

I slumped down in a chair across from them. Elijah stared at me then back to his book, "Well Larus, it looks like your fledgling is going to take awhile to warm up to me. She locks her own mate in a room to keep her away from me. This will definitely be interesting to see when she notices Emma go out."

Larus shook her head, "She is just a little protective. That is all... Emma, the house is yours. I will take care of Alexandra when she gets back."

I got up from my chair, "Thank you, Larus. I will leave you two for now."

I walked out of the library, walking down the halls.

Mmmm... What to do now?

I ended up in the pool room and sat on the edge of the water, watching the fish and turtles swim around. One of the turtles came up to the surface with its glassy eyes staring at me.
