Larus' POV

Alexandra and I sat in a booth in the small cafe while Elijah was sitting outside of the store watching Emma. I could tell Alexandra did not quite like the idea of him watching over her but it was entertaining to watch the two being mad at each other. Right now, Alexandra was basically glaring holes through the window that faced down the street toward the store.

I picked up my coffee and took a sip, "You should probably relax for a bit... Elijah is more than capable of watching her."

Her glare switched to me instantly then back to the window, "I don't like my mate being watched by a demon."

*Well if you don't like it we can switch back. And while you are at it can you bring out some coffee, pipsqueak? It is a little cold out here.*

I chuckled at Elijah's nickname for her while she retorted.

"No problem, do you like it with or without poison?"

Alexandra stood up and threw some money down for the coffee, "My mate should be going on break soon. I will go meet up with her."

I nodded and watched as she exited the cafe while an older man wearing an apron walked in.

Andy... I haven't seen him in years.

He noticed me instantly out of the corner of his eye and made his way over to the booth, "Hello Larus, it feels like forever since you have made an appearance down here."

I motioned for him to sit down which he accepted and slid in across from me, "Wow Andy, it looks like you haven't aged a bit."

He let out a breath, "It feels like I have aged a hundred years... Say have you heard about that murdered man a couple days ago?"

"Yes, I have. It's strange, I never knew he lived around here."

Andy thanked the waitress as she came over with a cup of coffee then left. He stared at his mug, "A lot of strange things have been happening around here lately. Come to think of it, it all started back when that girl's body was found in the fields... There is definitely something evil wandering around this town. It seems to even have my worker around the shop, Emma, spooked."

Andy has changed... but I don't know why. He just feels different.

I stirred my coffee, "Strange things happen everyday. But, it seems you are the only one that notices."

He sipped some of his coffee, "I notice because I need to protect the one I care about... I have a feeling you do the same. Only I don't know who."

"My daughter moved in with me from Colorado a few months ago. So yes, I do feel the same."

His eyes flashed, "Interesting, I didn't know you had a daughter."

I nodded, trying to pick through every angel sense I had to find what was different about him, "Hopefully you will meet her soon. Right now she is actually at your shop picking up some stuff."

Andy took one last sip of coffee then stood up, "Well I am going to have to get going. Emma will hate me if I leave her with a bunch of customers... I will see you around Larus."

I leaned back in my seat as he walked out the door, "See you around."

Alexandra's POV

I stayed outside of the store, watching everyone and everything that moved. I told Larus and Elijah that they could go home as Emma only has an hour left in her shift. I was sitting across the street on a bench, observing everyone walking by.
