=====LAST TIME=====

I knew this challenge was a bit easier compared to others, but there's a reason it's called a challenge. I lifted my notebook, writing extra big so that everyone could read it.

"It's more or less a challenge that you have to jump first and think later."

I flipped the page.

"Just make sure to wear your swimsuit."

=====NOW=====

===============================================================

Chris and I reached the top of the cliff by escalator. Why the escalator is on the side of a cliff, I'll never know, but it was there and we took advantage of the not-climbing opportunity. This was also extremely helpful since I was carrying a crate about the size of my torso that was stuffed with squeaking chicken hats. Trust me, you'll know what they're for soon enough... Just before we reached the top, Chris and I had to hold back a chuckle as we heard DJ. All he said at the sight of the drop was as follows: "Oh shit."

The campers were already there when we arrived. I'd say about half of them were looking over the edge of the cliffside while the other half watched us come forward. All of the campers were wearing their bathing suits or at least the clothes they usually swim in. Then, between Chris and I, I was the only one to wear my swimsuit.

I wasn't really struggling any, but I smiled at Trent in thanks when he grabbed the other end of the crate and helped me find a good place to set it down. As soon as the crate hit the ground, the campers looking over the edge turned to look in our direction. I smiled, waving them over as Chris cleared his throat.

"Okay," he began. "Today's challenge is three-fold. Your first task is to jump off this 1,000-foot-high cliff into the lake."

Bridgette smiled with confidence. "Piece of cake."

A few campers looked at me nervously as I audibly winced.

Chris could only find it in himself to chuckle as he elaborated. "If you look down, you will see two target areas."

The campers near the edge looked down.

"The wider area represents the part of the lake that we have stocked with psychotic, man-eating sharks." Chris had a wide smile on his face as he spoke. The campers' faces fell as he spoke.

I could see Duncan give me an incredulous look. I just shrugged at him, chewing on my lip out of habit as Chris noticed our exchange and handed me my notebook. I took it from him and wrote a message, showing it to Duncan.

"I did say that I didn't hold back. What, did you doubt me?" Duncan read the message to himself silently. He let out a good-natured snort, nodding at me with what I assumed was a show of respect. I smiled back at him, shrugging my shoulders.

"Inside that area is a safe zone," my cousin continued. "That's your target area, which, we're pretty sure is shark-free."

I rolled my eyes, standing on the crate as I finished another message. I held it above my head so that everyone could see it. "Guys, I was here when the challenge was set up. I promise you, there aren't any sharks in the safe zone. There's a net under the water separating the two sections."

A lot of the campers - particularly Beth, the BFFFL's, and Cody - sighed in relief. Chris slapped my calf lightly with a childish whine. "C'mon, Kimi! The campers weren't supposed to know that!"
