=====LAST TIME=====

=====DURING THE CHALLENGE=====

As soon as the bag was in hand, Harold sprinted to his cabin so that he could get dressed. I felt my face burning with anger and, taking advantage of the canoe's closeness, I took the paddle that DJ was holding. The boys winced as I dropped the paddle on the dock behind me.

"Hey, dudette," Geoff said. "What's up?"

I ripped a new note from my notebook, placing it in his hands before taking Duncan's paddle and grabbing the other one from behind me. "I would think that torturing a kid on live TV would be beneath you. Get out of the canoe. Consider yourselves on probation for the next two days. Don't even talk to Harold, either, unless you plan on apologizing."

I could easily hear complaining as I started walking away, so I gave them one more note. "Friend or not, I'm pulling rank. You were in the wrong, and you're getting the consequences. Now deal with it."

=====DURING THE DAY OFF=====

I moved to stand up, only for DJ to wrap an arm around my shoulders in a side hug. "You really care about him, huh?"

I nodded. I looked up. He was smiling down at me, and I forced myself to smile back.

He chuckled. "Well, I'm rooting for you. If you need to talk, you know where to find me."

I smiled a bit more genuinely, hugging him back. Our hug lasted a few seconds before he walked towards the door and unlocked it.

He turned back to me before he opened it. "You're secret's safe with me."

I snorted a bit, fighting back a small laugh. I lifted a hand to sign, "Thank you."

He waved as he left.

I'm really lucky to have a friend like him.

*ACHOO!*

I heaved a heavy sigh as I walked into the Mess Hall from the kitchen. Walking past the campers eating their breakfast, I walked right over to the Gopher who was getting over her time as a popsicle. She had large bags under her eyes, a tissue in her hand, and a thick blanket that I had brought wrapped around her shoulders.

I smiled gently as I reached Heather's side and placed a plastic mug in front of her. It was filled with an herbal tea that was sure to help her get over the nasty cold she had. Her response to me was a weak glare sent through a blanket of hair, but I didn't get too upset about it. I decided to just take it as her form of a thank you (even though she probably thought I was just pitying her) and move on with my morning.

I left shortly before Gwen sat down, not wanting to get caught between the girls. Then, as I made my way back to the kitchen, I couldn't help but overhear Courtney's voice. I rolled my eyes, wondering which poor kid she was nagging this time.

"I saw that. How can you just steal a mug?"

I turned around at that, glancing towards the coffee station. What I found was Courtney berating a certain juvenile delinquent.

He sported a glare for mere seconds, only to smirk at her impishly. " 'Cause it's cool-looking and I don't have one." He started walking towards the Bass table with Courtney trailing behind. "Didn't have one, that is."
