Tap…tap…tap…
Vincent groaned in annoyance and turned his head at Ronin who has been tapping his fingertips at the armrest for the pass seven minutes.
“Would you mind?” he said, irritation is starting to boil within him.
The young man with the glasses stopped and glanced an eye at him before letting out a sigh and gaze his attention back at the window which views the clouds under them as they flew. “Sorry about that, I still don’t understand something,” Ronin said.
His comrade gave him a confused look as he continues. “Its about Ono, that early morning that I taught him the basics of playing…..chess,”
Vincent stared at him blankly before slapping his forehead with his hand. “What is wrong with you?” he said. “What are you even trying to understand from a bird whom you taught to play human, indoor games?”
“The thing is….we tied, four to four,”
The information got him to pop open his eyes instantly, removing his hand, and look at his friend who is scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. Out of all things, this is not what he expected. Especially from a chess game tactician and expert.
“What do you mean?” Vincent asked, leaning over the edge of the seat as he focused on him.
“After teaching him the basics, we went to our first game which I won,” Ronin said and turned to the monitor screen that showed the egret being groomed by Hera. “At first, things seemed normal until our second game. He acted….different, like he became some A.I that is built to challenge any players that fights him in the game. I didn’t know what happened then because my whole being seemed to see him more than just a player, like how the mashindano rules apply? Well, that is until the martial eagle crashed into the game board,”
Vincent saw his point and understood it, though one thing seemed to bother the Mind user as his face shows it.
“You know that you can tell me anything, right?” Vincent said.
Ronin looked at him while raising an eyebrow until he realized what he means by that. With a small breath, he gazed back at the egret while finding the words he could clearly describe what he would say next.
“ For some reason, ever since our encounter, I felt….complete in some way when Ono is around,”_______________
“For some reason, I felt complete when Ronin is around,” Ono said.
Hera stopped her brushing and turned her attention at the egret on her lap, looking at him in confusion of what he said as everyone has sat or laid in the grass .“What do you mean by that?” she asked.
“Yeah,” Bunga joined in as the others, beside Janja who is escorted by Villa to a different floor to clean off the slimy substance, had heard him out loud. “I mean, aren’t us being around you makes you feel complete?” he said and spread an arm to the team.
Ono looked up to the sky as he explains his jumbling thoughts. “It’s not like that, Bunga. Ever since my meeting with Ronin, something inside me felt a connection in him. It was as if I am meant to be some kind of partner to him,”
They all let his words sink in for a moment before Jasiri added her own. “You’re not the only one,”
They all looked at her in surprise and listened to what she is trying to explain.
