Ember was silent for a while(probably only 2 minutes but it felt like an eternity). And then finally she said, "Okay." and Winter smiled, relieved that she wouldn't have to fight her on this. Ember then jumped and twisted and transformed into a sandy wind and headed toward the castle. After a minute she came back with two backpacks. One was the light blue backpack that Winter had carried in with her and left in the throne room. The other was a light yellow backpack that looked old and well loved. Neither of them said anything as they shouldered their packs. But they locked eyes right before they jumped and transformed into the wind.

Being the wind was one of the most amazing experiences ever. Not that it hadn't been amazing in her training, but being the wind in the open was a totally different experience. She was free. She was unstoppable. She was... on a mission. Winter mentally shook herself. It would be so easy to lose herself like that. She re-centered her thoughts and noticed the details around her. It was like she could see slightly above herself. Her wind had tiny snowflakes spinning around and the actual wind was slightly white from tiny bits of ice and snow. It was like a miniature flurry. And the scenery looked like a time lapse. The landscape slowly melted from a red, sandy desert to a place with grass and trees and flowers! And soon enough they had reached the palace. They transformed back to themselves right in front of the guards. Just for fun.

"WHAT IN THE NAME OF SPRING!" One of the guards cried falling back, then remembering he was supposed to be a guard and tried to compose himself. "Okay, we're going to make this really simple for you guys," Ember said. "Winter would you care to explain?" she asked. "So basically we are the queens of the Winter and the Summer territories. And before you argue that that's impossible, we have proof." They both showed their circlets that marked them as queens. The circlets could only be held by the true queens of each land. The Winter circlet had a piece of rare light blue ice crystal and a silver band. The Summer circlet had a piece of orange topaz and a gold band. "We need to talk to your queen immediately, and I should warn you that arguing would not be good for your health because I have a sword and we are both extremely powerful." Winter finished. One of the guards swallowed nervously. "Your highness's, I mean no disrespect but, I'm afraid it's truly not possible for us to let you see her. She has demanded that no one see her."

"Stop. We know that your new ruler is a teenager and your past queen dies so you don't have to hide it." Ember said. "What?" The guard asked. "That's not it at all." He said. "So what is?" Winter asked, confused. "Well, the queen wouldn't like me saying but... she is very sick and doesn't have much time left." the guard said. Winter and Ember looked at each other with urgency in their eyes. "Take us to them. Now." Ember said.
