I want to use my platform. I want to speak up. I want to stop being told to shut up.
I. Am. Black. And I'm forever proud.
For centuries, my people, my ancestors have been oppressed by whites. The only progress made was abolishing slavery. But that in no way stopped the hurt, the danger, and racism. My mother knew George Floyd. I'm being honest. I didn't really know him. But it still hurts to see anyone of my color being treated this way. He begged for his life. He called out for his DEAD mother.
I couldn't even watch the video. I cried. I cried when Trayvon Martin died. I cried when Keith Scott died. I cried when Atatiana Jefferson died. I cried when Jonathan Ferrell died. I cried when I found out there are so many more cases everywhere in America of police shootings that aren't shown on the news.
I get scared for my BROTHER. Because any black man is at risk of being shot by police. Or white supremacists. Like Ahmaud Arbery. He was JOGGING.
And I will NOT. Repeat WILL NOT say why All Lives Matter is full of bullshit. And anyone who says it is full of bullshit as well.
