Angsty fluff
...

A look away for a second, can be an eternity of possibilities to be hurt. Especially, looking away from those you are supposed to be looking out for.

That's all Kakashi did. He looked away for one second.

One second.

And the blonde was on the ground, surrounded by a small pool of blood. Kakashi felt his breath get snatched by the wind as he finishes off his enemy and runs to the wounded blonde he had sworn to protect.

"Naruto!" Kakashi exclaims worriedly. He holds the blonde in his arms who coughs weakly.

"Kakashi...my-my chest." Naruto coughs again. Blood spilling from his chest and mouth.

"N-naruto...what happened? I-I..I looked away for one second and-and-and-" Kakashi stammers as he looks all over Naruto's body. Shock still dancing on his tongue as he clutched the boy more.

"It-it isn't your fault." Naruto says. Kakashi picks him up and stands hurriedly, making a run for the Leaf Village.

"K-kakashi..it-it hurts." Naruto whines. Kakashi holds him tight.

"I know, Naruto. We'll be at the hospital quick." Kakashi mumbles and runs. He uses his lighting to teleport to the opening gates of the leaf village and hurries to the hospital, where they immediately take Naruto from his arms and operate on him as needed.

"Please help him. Please." Kakashi pleads.
...

Kakashi paced. And paced for days. He stayed in the hospital room with Naruto. He finally sat. But he needs to do something. Or the thought that this is all his fault will come back. He has been treating that idea with such care that it blossomed. And grew. He feels as though he killed Naruto. By looking away from him for one second.

He ate a bit of miso. Savoring the broth as he stared at the blonde in front of him. This anxious feeling never going away. What if he never awakens?

"He's going to wake up, Kakashi. Don't worry." Tsunade says. Kakashi nods.

"It's hard to believe that."

"It's only been days, Kakashi-Sensei." Sakura says. Kakashi buries his head in his hands.

If he never wakes up, he'll never have told him how he's been feeling lately. These past few months actually.

"I know." Kakashi sighs. Tsunade rubs his and walks out the door while Sakura sets down food a coffee for Kakashi.

"This isn't your fault, Kakashi Sensei."

Kakashi responds with silence and Sakura takes that as her leave. She walks out and leaves Kakashi to pace around the room again.

Soon the light from the moon shined through the windows of the dark room as he drank the last of his coffee.

Lettered by the thought that Naruto would never know how he thought. Kakashi never thought it necessary to confess his feelings, but to keep them secret until the day he dies. But now that Naruto's life is at risk he feels different. However, he knew he still wouldn't tell Naruto after he woke up. Just feel grateful he's alive and will move on with his life. He wanted to keep his secret until he died. Not until Naruto died.

"K-kakashi?"

Kakashi snapped his head towards the bed so hard he felt his neck snap.

"Narut-to." Kakashi stammered and placed his hand in Naruto's golden locks.

"What are we doing in here?" Naruto asks.

"You got hurt because of my ignorance."

"Your ignorance shouldn't affect me." Naruto says.

"Well it did. I looked away. And when I looked back..you..." Kakashi cuts himself off with sigh as he digs his face in his hands.

"Kakashi. It isn't your fault. I can take care of myself. Ninjas get hurt. It doesn't make it anyone else's fault but theirs." Naruto says softly as he sits up.

"Forgive me. Please Naruto." Kakashi pleads. Naruto shakes his head.

"No. No. No-"

"Naruto." Kakashi stares into the blonde's eyes with his own pleadful eyes. Naruto sighs as Kakashi stared harder.

"No Kakashi. You did nothing wrong." Naruto says. Kakashi stares at him with an unrecognizable expression. Kakashi was staring at him with admiration. His skin was as pale and smooth as the snow. His eyes as bright as the ocean, and hair as gold as the sun. He looked beautiful in the moonlight.

Kakashi placed his hand on Naruto's cheek and caressed it as he sat up to connect his lips with Naruto's. Naruto's still lips were frozen in shock. Once Kakashi pulled away, he felt the heat from Naruto's red cheeks radiating on him. He looked at Naruto as they sat in comfortable silence. Naruto wrapped his arms around Kakashi's neck and put his hands in the fluffy silver hair, pulling him to his lips again. Kakashi kissed back immediately after closing his eyes in ecstasy. He wrapped his arms around Naruto's waist as the boy pulled him onto the bed. Kakashi felt like he was doing wrong. But everything felt perfect against those soft lips.

Kakashi slipped his tongue against Naruto's bottom lip, who opened his mouth, accepting the wet muscle fairly quickly. Kakashi's tongue rolled nastily against Naruto's who moaned softly.

Naruto pulled away, catching his breath, trying to quickly attach their lips again.

"Kakashi. It isn't your fault. My failures aren't your fault, just because you aren't looking out for me." Naruto says softly. Kakashi looks down.

"You don't understand how I feel. If-if I lost you, I-I-I-"

Naruto cut him off with another soft kiss. Naruto stared into his eyes.

"It still wouldn't have been your fault. You're always here for me, Kakashi." Naruto says blushing. Kakashi caresses the blonde's cheek and smiles softly.

"I love you, Naruto. I love you so much." Kakashi says blushing. Naruto smiles and kisses his lips once more.

"I love you more."
