They were going to die.

"Tae, I will never let anything bad happy to you. Understand? You will not die here." Jungkook says, forcing the words the come out as he barely believed them himself.

Powerless,

Alone,

Trapped,

And the man he loved could barely move,

It seemed hopeless to try.

But Jungkook steeled his nerves as did the other Sins and told convinced themselves if the beautiful lie that this too, would pass.

Taehyung presses his lips together in a tight line, but slowly pushes a smile into his features, trying to be brave.

Being brave at a time like this; David facing Goliath. A mouse standing up to the lion. A virgin dressed in white going to fight the so called pastors who've condemned her for witchcraft.

It's a kind of bravery you can't feel, but you know you need. So you manifest it out of desperation and not will.

"We need a plan, we cannot just sit here and accept our fates." Yoongi huffs from his position in the corner of the cell.

Namjoon nods fervently, "Even without powers were all decently strong, especially Jungkook, Hoseok, Yoongi and I. There'll be a lot of them but we could at least cause a distraction for the others to slip away." Jin gasps before smacking the younger on the back of the head.

"You idiot, either we're all getting out or it's a failure. Are we in agreement?" He scolds, looking for confirmation from the others. Everyone nods their head solemnly.

"Look, it's not a crime to want to save yourself Jinnie okay? That goes for all of us. It's not selfish to want to survive." Namjoon retorts.

"We understand that Namjoon, but we're family now; even Jungkook. If we lost one another we'd be no better off." Hoseok says calmly, not contradicting his friend but simply reinforcing the fact it is okay to want to stick together in a time of need.

Jungkook stares at the normally sunshine-esc males glum expression, clearly he's feigning his natural optimistic tendencies. But his kind words still manages to spark the small kindling and start a warm blaze in his otherwise depressed heart.

Taehyung whispers, something so quiet and strained the other sins stop so they can hear him again.

"I love you all." He whispers, eyes closing as speaking becomes too much for him again.
