3rd person POV
It was the first day of kindergarten for Zuko and unlike most of his soon to be classmates, he was not happy about this horrible ordeal."I don't wanna!!" Zuko screeched
"You're not going to school naked, Zuzu!!" His older sister, Azula yelled back.
She hated looking after her little brother but she had to because her parents made her. As she was wrestling her brother to make him wear clothes, Zuko bit her.
"ZUKO! What the hell!?" Azula wailed
"I'm not going." Zuko stated in the most stubborn of tones
"Why, Zuzu? You've never gone to school before, how do you know you're going to hate it?" His sister asked, exasperated
"What if the kids make fun of me?" Zuko questioned sadly
"If kids make fun of you, I'll beat their asses, okay?? Now get the hell up and get dressed, if we hurry, you won't be late."
Azula was exhausted from spending all summer looking after her brother. As much as she disliked his company, he was still her sibling so she loved him.
At school
"Hey kids! My name is Ms. Johnson, I'm going to be your teacher this year!" The teacher exclaimed, overly ecstatic. "I thought, since it's your first day, we should do some fun activities!" Ms. Johnson said in a peachy voice.
The class cheered at her suggestion.
"Why don't we start off with some drawing?" Ms. Johnson asked excitedly
The classed erupted in delighted noises. Ms. Johnson set out crayons and paper for everyone. She also suggested that they try to make friends.
Zuko sat at the table, awkwardly alone with his crayons and a blank sheet of paper. He was never really one for social interaction. Ms. Johnson stared at him from across the room right before she announced that they had to draw something. Zuko reluctantly chose out the colors of the rainbow because he didn't know what else to draw. He was almost finished coloring in the blue when someone poked him in the eye.
"Ow!" Zuko yelped
"Eww what happened to your eye?!" His classmate, Jet sneered
"It's just a burn mark." Zuko muttered to Jet
Jet started laughing at Zuko and calling everyone over to look at the unusual scar. Most of the kids came over to inspect Zuko, Ms. Johnson pretended she didn't see anything. Just as Zuko began to cry, someone said something.
"Hey! Get off him!" One of the kids yelled
The child shoved Jet off of Zuko and that's when Ms. Johnson decided to care.
"Sokka! That is no way to treat someone! Apologize!" Ms. Johnson said in an appalled tone
Sokka looked furious but gave a halfhearted apology anyways. After Ms. Johnson told everyone to go back to coloring, Sokka snuck over to Zuko to introduce himself.
"Hi! I'm Sokka! What's your name?" Sokka said in a bubbly lisp
"Hi Sokka... I'm Zuko." Zuko replied, still in shock as to why this jumping bean of a person wanted to interact with him.
"Awesome! I think your eye looks super cool! I wish my eye looked like that!" Sokka giggled
"Haha, thanks." Zuko let a small smile slip across his face
Sokka had brought his crayons and drawing over to Zuko and was rambling about what he was creating.
"Hey Zuko! I have a question! Do you wanna be best friends?" Sokka asked, grinning
Zuko opened his mouth to reply but he was cut off
"Yay! We're best friends!" Sokka squealed.
Sokka took what he had been drawing and threw it in the garbage can.
"Why did you do that?" Zuko asked, surprised
"Because I'm going to make a new drawing! Of us!" Sokka stated as he began working. "I'm going to draw us holding hands because we're best friends. And I'm going to draw a rainbow on top because that's what you're making!" Sokka narrated, he finished off the drawing by writing "dest frems" underneath.
"It's for you!" Sokka squealed with glee
Zuko gasped with excitement
"Thank you Sokka! I love it!" Zuko cheered
Unfortunately, things aren't that easy in high school.
