Sokka POV

"I lied." I say quietly

I'm about to kiss him again when we hear Katara nearly break down the door that she's being imprisoned by. We flinch. Zuko sighs.

"Here, go wait outside," he tells me, handing me his keys and mask

I take them and wander outside, I feel like I'm not really in my body. Like I'm floating but something is still trying to pull me down. I stare down at the concrete pathway in front of our house, not really thinking about anything, just feeling numb. But not in the sad way. In the emotionless way, like everything's cancelled each other out.

I hear a door being slammed.

"You did this to him!! You made him this way!!" Katara screams

Zuko comes jogging out of the house, he comes up to me, grabs the keys, rests a hand on my lower back and hastily walks me to his car.

He starts the ignition and pulls out of my driveway.

We see Katara running after us and yelling some nonsense.

"YOU'D BETTER NOT COME BACK HERE ZUKO!!"

We sit in silence for at least three hours before we stop next to a sunflower field. Zuko climbs out then comes over to the passenger side and helps me out of the car.

He grabs my hand and walks me up through the field and up a small hill with a weeping willow tree at the top.

Zuko brushes the vines aside, and guides me inside. We sit with our backs against the trunk. It's a gorgeous place, the vines from the tree cover us up but we can still see the sun setting.

Zuko turns to me "Hey, Sokka... I'm sorry about what happened earlier. Everything."

"It's really not a big deal." I tell him, my voice barely making an impression on the vast expanse of silent noise unfolding around us.

He looks at me, his eyebrows furrowed and opens his mouth as if he's about to say something but I cut him off.

"Are you gay or bi or pan or something?" I ask, a little annoyed for no reason

The question catches him by surprise "I- um- I'm actually not sure." He responds "B-because I've dated girls before but... I also like you.." he tells me, his voice getting quieter at the end.

I raise my eyebrows in shock. "I've liked you since 4th grade." I tell him

I lean up to kiss him but he pulls his head away again.

"No Sokka, I really like you. But I need to know what's going to happen before this goes any further."

"I really like you too." I tell him

"Okay, are we going to date or are you just going to kiss me whenever you feel like it?" He asks, harsher than necessary.

"I want to date you, Zuko." I tell him

He sighs and looks away. My heart breaks into a million pieces.

I sit there, on the verge of tears, when he leans over and kisses me on my forehead. He goes back to his original place against the tree.

I glance over at him to see that he has his elbows resting on his knees and his hands in his hair. He looks like he's about to throw up.

"Uh, Zuko, are you-"

"My parents are gonna fucking kill me."

I hate writing chapters that are short. Like this one. But I feel like there's nothing more to add on.

Y'all can comment suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it because as I continue to write solely using my brain, things like this happen. And things like this are no good.
