I was standing on the platform wearing a jacket built to reflect body heat, a green shirt, and some pants. I scanned the area around the Capricorn. The closer to the Capricorn the more valuable the object. I knew how I would get the best objects. I knew how, because I had thought every moment of the bloodbath before and after I went to sleep last night. Simple: run to the center and play dead. I had it all worked out with the other 11 so they wouldn't panic.

"Let the 64th Hunger Games Begin!" A voice boomed. Sixty, fifty nine, fifty eight, only sixty seconds fifty two fifty one, don't step off yet or you will get blown up, forty one, forty, thirty nine, thirty eight Hank threw his token at Sandy Lanes. He shot skyward. Twenty three, twenty two, twenty one, Hank was laughing like a mad man at the sight of poor Sandy shooting into the sky. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, I prepare to run. One. I sprint to the middle of the Capricorn. Percy grabs a knife and breaks of the blade, leaving only the handle. He sticks the handle onto me and my token, a necklace with a secret compartment of fake blood, lots of fake blood squirts out, and I pretend to fall down and die.

I watch as the rest battle over the items with my eyes mostly closed. I see Nico grab a small neon green backpack and run into the forest. I spot Reyna as she grabs a good sleeping bag, a sword, and a little backpack before dashing into the woods. Everyone from the past is grabbing and running.

Hank, Kane, and Tia are fending off the supplies. Kane stab Dane page in the gut with a spear, while Tia shoots him from behind. It was not a pretty sight. Two dead. Then I see Rachel trying to fend off Hank, who is wielding a sword, and run into the woods. It's a loosing battle. Rachel is good with a knife, but she doesn't have the training of a demigod, or the illegal training of a career. Hank disarms her. He trips her and raises the sword. I close my eyes tightly. Rachel is back in the past. Bolt dean is stabbed by the twelve year old Miranda Young. Tia stabs Miranda from behind. Everyone has cleared out, even the careers, so they can take the bodies.

I slip into the Capricorn and grab a camouflage bag. I find a first aid kit, a few daggers, a sleeping bag, some beef jerky, and...Ambrosia? I don't question it. I stuff some more food in it, dried fruit, canned green beans, a water jug and some bleach. Used sparingly, like REALLY sparingly, it can clean water. I also grab matches, though fire isn't a great idea, as it might lure the careers. I slip into the woods and bump into Percy.

"Annabeth!"he whispers.

"Yes we can form an alliance." I hiss back. "But let's go farther before we talk. We need to find water." He nods and we set off. I can hear the cannon booming. One, Two, Three, Four, Five.

As it grows darker I see signs of water, but there is no saying if they are real, they could be the gamemakers, (aka the giants) tricking us.

The temperature drops fifty degrees, earlier it was about seventy degrees. Now it is more like twenty. I shiver and Percy puts his arm around me, but I push it of and give him a look that I hope says I would love it but this could be being televised. We can fall in love, but latter. Okay? He nods and we keep walking.

A plumb of smoke goes up and after fifteen minutes, there is a cannon and the smoke goes out. The Careers. It's hard to remember they didn't choose this, but if they hadn't been chosen, they probably would have volunteered. It's also hard to think of them as fellow demigods. The way they slaughtered Rachel, Dane, Sandy. It's also sad how so many young are forced to kill. I killed at seven, but only monsters. And monsters never die. Like how Miranda stabbed Bolt. I stop thinking about it.

"We need to climb a tree and make camp." I whisper to Percy. He nods and points to a sturdy willow. It makes a perfect nest, just big enough for the two of us. I give him the look that says Remember! We are allies! We aren't dating! K?
He returns my look with I know Annabeth. I wish we didn't have to pretend though.

We climb the tree and spread out the our sleeping bags. We belt ourselves to two different branches and place our bags in the little nook in the tree. Thankfully, everything is black, so we are nearly invisible.

A screen shows in the sky, it shows Miranda Yang's young innocent face then I remember her stabbing Bolt. Next Bolt Dean, then Sandy Lanes, then Rachel, then Octivan the Hundredth-who must have lit the fire, lastly Dane Page. I swear I hear a cheer when Danes face shows up. The anthem plays and the sky goes dark.

"I'll take first watch." I whisper. He starts to protest but he falls asleep before he can finish. I lay awake listening and watching.

I hear a rustling in the trees.

"She's not dead, she wasn't in the sky!" I hear Hank say in true anger. I hold my breath as they walk under our tree. "You said she was dead! Said you watched as that Percy who didn't join us stab her! You said you were standing behind him and glanced over and saw blood covering her chest!" It was true, I had fake blood covering my shirt and coat, but it had long since dried.

"I don't know how she lived. I heard the cannon boom!" Kane stomped. He slumped against my tree. "We should go back to the Capricorn. Tia and Bark will be wanting help."

"Why did we even recruit Bark?" Hank asked.

"So we can kill him of course!" Kane said with a little to much joy.

Percy stirred and opened his mouth I clamped my hand over it.

"Did you hear something?" Hank asked.

Kane replied in a hushed tone, "let's go back to camp and hunt down some of the others in the mourning. I am thinking we go after Frank and Hazel. I saw them pair up."

"Good idea" Hank said, as they turned and left.

I realized I was shaking. Why was I shaking? I had been in way more dangerous situations before. Percy gives me the best hug he can while being strapped onto a different branch.
