I ran into the meadow. I had spotted Avery Goldberg running into the meadow, and so I followed her. I managed to grab a sword, but I wish I could have grabbed a dagger, something more my style. I deflected a few stray-or maybe not stray arrows, only to lose Avery Goldberg.

I stumbled threw the meadow. She should be easy to spot, but the grass is quite tall, and Avery was very small. I tripped over something. It was a body. Looking down I saw Avery looking up at me, clearly terrified.

"Come with me, we need to make it farther out in the meadow." I whispered. We were just out of view of the careers.

"No. We should rest now and travel at night. I will take first watch-you take second." She insisted.

I nodded in agreement and flattened myself against the muddy, grassy ground. The light wind picked up into a harsh gust. I could here a small animal burrowing under me. I watched as an earthworm wiggled to the surface, and as a robin swooped down and plucked it off the ground. It gulped it down. The heat became more intense and the wind picked up. It was strange, I was cold and hot at the same time.

I heard cannons boom. Then I clutched my sword and drifted off to sleep, shivering and sweating all at once.

-----------------------------------------------

"Wake up!" Avery hissed. "Its your shift"

I stretched and sat up. Avery curled up into a shivering ball and fell asleep quickly. The sun in the sky told me it was about three in the afternoon. My stomach growled. I remembered the small animal that had made its home under me. I dug threw the dirt and found a mole. It was disgusting with its star shaped nose and grimy coat, but i held up my sword and stabbed it. The next thing we would need is water. I figured we could find that tonight.

I tied the moles filthy tale to a loop in my pants and scanned the surroundings. To my far right, there was the Capricorn, I spotted a few guards. They couldn't see us though. We were just blades of grass in the field. To my far left there might been a pond, but there was no saying what it was. I was facing endless field in front of me, and behind me I could see the start of the forest.

I thought I saw movement to my right, but when I looked I saw nothing. Then I spotted a glint of a golden sword, the top of someones blond hair, a hand. Jason. I slink against the ground because we weren't supposed to be dating.

Jason emerged from the grass with a streak of blood trickling from his left ear. His hair was matted, but in his hands was two sleeping bag, a backpack, and two canisters full of water. He looked scared by me and dropped one sleeping bag, and one jar of water. I smiled. He was trying to help me, without it being obvious. I hate to say this, but Jason was a genius.

I scanned the meadow and the edge of the forest, but nobody showed up. By the time the sun had set, I had memorized the lay of the land. I shook Avery awake and we silently agreed to head towards what looked like a pond or river.

I showed her the supplies that Jason had "Accidentally" dropped. She looked as delighted as me. I also showed her the mole, she nodded, but we knew we couldn't eat it tonight, we were to close. I heard a cannon boom. Another one dead.

The sky light up. Up on the screen I watched as the faces flashed by. Miranda Yang, Bolt Dean, Sandy Lanes, Rachel, Octivan the Hundredth, Dane Page. Rachel wasn't really dead, just teleported back.

The anthem played and the screen went dark. Avery and I walked in silence for that night. No deaths. Then another cannon boomed around ten in the morning.

"I wonder who that is." Avery said in a hushed voice. "The blood bath seemed less, well, bloody than normal. I don't know if that's good or bad."

I replied "It depends."

We walked in silence the rest of the night, reaching the water in the morning.
