Battle of the Street Parking- Mariah 0.2

I live in one of those neighborhoods that has a neighborhood facebook page. Now, I'm not on it, but my parents are so I got to enjoy this. There was a fight. On facebook.

Let's be honest, that's a pretty common thing. There are text-based facebook battles every day on that site, but not in the private neighborhood group. No, the most that goes on in there is the old man down the street passive aggressively commenting about the kids playing without direct supervision on the playground, and the occasional get-the-dog-poop-out-of-my-yard scenario.

Anyway, some college girl is home visiting her parents because of the whole corona-break thing. She used to live here full time, so she's a member of the facebook group. Fun stuff. So she made a comment about how people need to stop parking on the street because it makes it really difficult to find a spot. "Just park in your garage," she says. That's great and all, but here's the deal. In my neighborhood, we have alleys behind our houses where we have access to our garages. Narrow, one way alleys lines with 8-10 ft driveways and barely-two-car garages. Most people in the neighborhood just use the approved street parking in front of their houses. It's easier, and frankly, some people just can't park in the back so it's the only option.

So this girl's comment leads to a back and forth argument between her and a few of the residents. Eventually, one of the group's admins joins the chat. She goes in the ring with college girl for a little bit, and college girl starts to get snippy. Major attitude. Like, Rude 100, Respect for Elders -5. She makes another comment about how rude people are, and how she had to park down the street instead of in front of her parent's house, and all this stuff, and the admin, in the smoothest way, shuts. Her. Down.

She goes, "Oh, you don't live here? This is a private group for residents of [insert cute neighborhood name] only, so I'll go ahead and remove you! Thanks!"

This woman removed her from the group. College girl didn't even have time to type a reply before she was out of there, don't-let-the-door-hit-you-on-the-way-out style. It was great. The chat was wild. Everyone who had seen what had happened was going nuts. There were so many gifs and 2015 meme formats being sent. My mom retold the story to me about four times over the next few days. I just wish she had taken screenshots so I could upload them for y'all. Unfortunately though, she didn't, but I'll be sure to keep you updated on the facebook drama!

Well, then. Don't you just love a good old Facebook fight? Of course you do. Let us know what you think in the comments, or if you have any fun stories to share! We'd love to read them. I hope you enjoyed the story, and we'll see you Wednesday for the next super awesome Quarantine Quencher!
