Hey there! Welcome back to Quarantine Quenchers: Quarantine friendly activities to quench your stuck-at-home boredom! Here, we upload our staff-approved activities every Wednesday, so get ready for some social distancing fun, from our families to yours! Without further ado, let's get to this week's activity.
This week are: writing a short story!
I know, I know. Probably not what you expected. I bet you expected to get another super neat craft or DIY like usual, but fret not! This is also super neat. This is also a writing platform, so you should've seen it coming at some point. And to make it even more fun, we'll make it a contest!
Here's how it'll work:
If at least five (5) people submit a piece by June 27, that's 10 days from today, we will feature you and your piece as a Life Under Quarantine Monday update, as well as give you a shoutout on our main page. This is a fun, no pressure opportunity to get your writing out there for others to see. Like I said, super neat.
To submit a piece, make a new book and tag it with #ACTshortstorycontest. We will begin sorting through your entries on June 28th. The date the winner is announced will be determined later on based on how many entries we receive.
Here are the rules:
1) As previously stated, a minimum of 5 separate entries must be submitted in total for the contest to take place. You may submit no more than two pieces for consideration.
2) Your piece must a minimum of 500 words, and a maximum of 4,000.
3) Your piece must be in English to be eligible.
4) Your piece may not contain 18+ content. Keep it PG please!
5) You must follow the prompt, but be creative with it! Any perspective, any genre, you decide. You have creative freedom within the bounds of the basic prompt.
6) All entries must be submitted no later than 11:55 PM on June 27, 2020. AFter than, your entry may not be accepted for consideration in the contest should it proceed.
Prompt: It started with a flash of light, and ended with a rubber sole. . .
Thank you for reading, and happy writing to you all!
