Hello everybody 👋🏾,
It's been a while since I updated anything on here. Hope you all have been doing well?
As many of us have seen on twitter and other social media platforms, there is an ongoing outcry of the 2 recent rape stories of which one is #JusticeforUwa.
👉🏾 (1. A 12 year old girl was raped by 11 men in Jigawa state.
2. A 22 year old woman, Uwa, was raped and brutally murdered in a church in Benin.) 👈🏾👉🏾 (12-year-old girl raped by 11 men in Jigawa) 👈🏾
With the ongoing injustice in Nigeria, it is important I share this with you guys on this platform (Wattpad) to spread awareness.Wattpad is a platform popularly known for feeding on a lot of young girls' romantic fantasies, but it's also important for these girls to be reminded of the harsh realities in the world out there. Not everything is sunshine and flowers like a lot of the books you read here. Not every perfect man or boy is as perfect as you think. Not every man or boy's house you should sleep over in. Bad boys are bad boys, period. Don't be fooled by the "good girl, bad boy" stories. Getting drunk in front of your crush is not always cute, in fact it's very dangerous.
Rape is real. Rape can happen anywhere. Rape can happen to anybody (no matter the gender). Rape can come from anybody (no matter the gender), even the ones you trust the most.
It's important we spread more light to these real issues on here. Writers, we need more stories that speak on reality. You never know who you might be saving with that one chapter or short story you publish here on Wattpad.
This is also one of the reasons why I wrote this book, The Second Path (fka Kauna). To spread awareness and to speak up for women who have been silenced for years.
👉🏾 ("Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice." - Proverbs 31:8-9) 👈🏾
To all those who have gone through one form of abuse or the other, it's important to speak to someone. A friend, a parent, a teacher, or anyone out there, even God Himself (tell Him exactly how you feel). I understand how difficult and scary it is to speak up. In fact, it feels like it's the most impossible thing to do, especially if you've been abused by someone important in your life. But I promise you, there is something powerful about speaking out that nobody tells you about.
👉🏾 ("Your silence will not protect you." - Audre Lorde) 👈🏾
And to all those who engaged in such devilish brutal act, read this again and again 👇🏾, until it sinks in:
👉🏾 ("It's 5 mins for you, it's a lifetime for her." #SayNoToRape) 👈🏾
#JusticeforUwa #SayNoToRape #STOPRAPINGUS #NoMeansNo #WeAreTired
