"I think this is the poison herb Shinobu-san asked me to get for her." you said, grabbing the pink flowers and putting them in a basket.

You then pulled out your notes and checked the flower you just retrieved.
"Done." you chirped.

You walked back to the Demon Slayer HQ, avoiding other people as much as possible.

What caught your attention were townfolks gathering at a certain place, cutting your gaze off to where you were walking. "What happened?"

You accidentally bumped to someone and good thing you didn't trip. "Oh, I am sorry!" you bowed. You immediately recognized the man in front of you. It was no other than Rengoku, the Flame Pillar, the person you admire the most, probably because of his joyful and withal his odd behavior.

"Raise your head!" you gulped, your body heavily shaking in nervousness. "I am glad to see you again!" he grinned.

Your feet started to run. You looked to your back, seeing Rengoku ran to the crowd. You sighed in relief.

"I brought the poison herbs you need, Kocho-san." you placed the basket somewhere. "Thank you, L/N-san!" Shinobu cooed.

"Have you ever planned to be a swordsman, L/N-san?" your posture shifted at the sudden question. "And if you did, why didn't you become one?"

"I don't know." you mumbled, clutching your skirt tightly. "Well, it's fine if you won't answer it..." She smiled at you.

After a few minutes of awkward silence, you walked out of the room and take a deep breath outside. "Tasty!"

You caught yourself staring at Rengoku, who was eating his favorite sweet potatoes. You giggled at the sight. "L/N!" he ran to you,

'Oh my God, he caught me, does he thinks I am a stalker now?' you thought to yourself, bugging out of the scene. He tapped your shoulders, causing you to turn around. "I didn't get to talk to you back at the town, so wanna spare a conversation?" you nodded furiously.

"How was everything? What happened to the town you live on, L/N?" he questioned. The atmosphere became silent, though after a few moments, your anxiousness and uncomfortableness started to fade, causing you to open up to him.

"I don't know if I should say everything was fine after what happened..." you answered. "The town, my family, everything was-" your tears began to shed from your eyes.

"Starting that day, whenever I hold a blade, frames of what happened started to flash and I don't know why."
you further said.

"Potato?" he handed you one.

Back then, you still remember how he gives you his food whenever you're sad or in a bad mood. He was your only childhood friend until come that  day, he didn't come visit you.

Why?

He was going to fulfill his duties and you trailed him, for you to fulfill yours.

"You should go back to your quarters now." he patted your head before both of you left the place.
