It was my first day at work and I was nervous. I managed to arrive ten minutes early and took that spare time to inspect my new gained muscles in my calves, maybe walking wasn't so bad. Showering this morning, I realised I had no clean underwear and after much deliberation with myself decided to go without, reusing dirty panties was not my thing and I wasn't about to start that now.

After fidgeting with my McDonald's shirt, trying to stretch it longer so it could cover my butt area, I sighed and walked in through the back. I was greeted by smiles, puzzled faces and also stank looks by my co-workers who all stopped what they were doing to see who walked in. I felt like I was on the hot seat as everyone's eyes roamed over my body, from head to toe, probably trying to figure out who I was.

'Hi, I'm Ariana, the new girl,' I quietly introduced myself, everyone just stared at me blankly with bored expressions plastered on their faces. Heck, screw them too I thought, I was tired of trying to please everybody. Shrugging off the fact that I had blatantly been ignored I flipped my hair nonchalantly in response, acting like it didn't affect me. This was the new Ariana surfacing I reminded myself unconvincingly.

'Ah, the new girl,' A feminine but deep voice reiterated. Emerging from the crowd coming towards me was a cheery looking man wearing the same uniform as me but with a twist. He wore big hoop earrings that rattled against his jaw as he walked towards me; they were laced with bright coloured feathers and diamond shaped plastic accessories. He had multi coloured bangles that swallowed up his wrists whole; I also noticed the long fake eyelashes that swept his eyelids, accentuating them. 'I am your manager Davis, come come let's get you started.'

Breathing a sigh of relief as the tension slowly dissipated, I happily welcomed him in my presence with a toothy grin, he seemed nice. Davis pulled me out of the room and explained to me that the newbies would normally start as cleaners but since he took a liking to me, he'd put me on the till. He showed me how to work a till and showed me to my locker, where I put my room key inside, the only belonging on me. By the time he had finished briefing me on what I needed to do, it was time for my lunch break. Staff were allowed to pick a meal off the menu for free; I decided on the chicken fillet meal and took my food outside to eat. I refused to enter that staff room again, it was clear I wasn't going to make any friends here. Everyone just seemed so bitter about something.

Sitting on the side walk, I quickly opened the wrapper which concealed the sandwich, marvelling at the aroma that graced my nostrils. This was going to be the best lunch I've had in a while.

It only took me 3 minutes to finish my food and drink up the last of my Sprite, I could get used to working here. Rubbing my stomach, I reminisced on the food I just ate, trying to imagine that the delicious flavours were still dancing on my tongue.

'Damn girl,' A deep baritone voice from behind me bellowed. 'You eat like a pig.

The person which I assumed was a man, chuckled to himself. I wasn't even going to respond to his immaturity until I felt a rather large hand tapping on my thigh.

'Go away,' I said lowly, shooting this unfamiliar guy who was now seated next to me daggers. He looked at me in fake shock horror, holding on to his chest; it was quite amusing. I let out a small giggle, before clamping my mouth shut with my hands. There was no way I was going to encourage his stupidity.

'Ah, she smiles,' He held out his hand to shake mine; in return I simply stared at it hoping for it to go away. He was not in my good books after his smart remark so no, he would not be getting a chance to touch my skin even if it was just a mere hand shake. He wiped his hand on his trousers, cleaning the non-visible dirt he thought was there only to put it back out expecting me to shake it again. I mentally rolled my eyes, his attempts were hysterical but I was not impressed at all. 'Okay let's start over, I'm Jerome and you are?'
